My Reading Using SoundCloud
My class was told to choose a small part in a book and record it on SoundCloud. I chose the book Holes. I read half of page 14 and the rest of page 15 from the book. The purpose was to be able to hear myself read and to reflect on how I can improve my reading fluency.
Next time I read aloud, I think one of the things I would improve would be to use more expression/enthusiasm and make it sound like I was reading as if it was natural language. I would make sure I knew the part from the book very well and didn’t have any rough spots at all. I think I did good on the pace that I was reading because if you read too fast, nobody can tell what you’re saying. I also think I did good on not reading word-by-word. Reading word-by-word is really slow and you can’t understand or get whatever the person is reading.
Hearing myself read helped me troubleshoot what I was doing wrong or what I could improve on to make my reading more fluent and sound as if I was having a normal conversation. It showed me some of the things that I was mistaking and helped me fix them by listening to it. Now I know what I need to do for the next time I read aloud.

Charlotte I enjoyed listening to your voice as you read part of story from Holes. You were very clear and it was easy to follow the story line. Well done!
