As I’ve experienced Cosmetology through high school, I have learned many on trend techniques from dying and cutting hair to all kinds of different styling techniques but at the end of the day, nobody but my classmates and select teachers got to see all my hard work.
Until this year, when we were introduced to online blogging, where I could share all of my new designs and projects with more people than ever before. I have not come across anything like blogging before and sharing all my work with the world makes the learning experience more exciting. It makes the class atmosphere enjoyable, gives us as students a bigger reason to work harder and longer on projects as well as something to take away after high school and use when looking for potential jobs.
Even though all the setting up of the blog can be a lot of extra work, it is worth it to be able to go home at the end of the day and post what you created that day. It really is no different than tweeting or writing a Facebook status, only it is building my portfolio and I can see my progress in a positive way as I grow into a professional hairstylist.
It’s nice to have a positive engaging activity to add to our high school life while, giving us hope for our futures. I’ve enjoyed building my portfolio, and I know that I will be able to use this when I begin my life after high school. I look forward to sharing my hairstyling blog with potential employers and friends in the future.
Please feel free to check out my portfolio online!
