The start of a school year is always a busy and exciting time. I love the fresh start, renewed energy and anticipation for what the year holds. For me, this has become amplified with the start of my new role as Principal at Parkland Village School. With this new beginning, I definitely have hit the ground running and have loved every minute of it. In preparing for the start of the year I did a lot of reflecting and planning which for me has boiled down into two main purposes for my start for the year: build relationships and learn. In an effort to work towards these two things, I introduced myself on our new Parkland Village School Blog with the aim of being transparent and helping people put a face to the new principal. This is what I wrote…
I am extremely excited for this new school year! I look forward to building strong relationships with the students, staff and parents of the school community. I anticipate this year to be an excellent year of continuing to build upon the safe, caring and stimulating environment that already exists here at Parkland Village School, in which our students can grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
As your educational leader, first and foremost I want you to know that I am committed to seeing every child succeed. I also wanted to share what is important to me and some things that are big motivators in my life. Over the summer I did some reflection and identified these following things as “core values” to my leadership:
- Honour and Respect
Our vision at Parkland School Division and Parkland Village School is that we would be a place where exploration, creativity, and imagination make learning exciting and where all learners aspire to reach their dreams. I am excited to see our students become more vibrant, strong, and successful as we celebrate the unique talents and abilities of all learners. I truly believe that there is nothing greater that a person can do with their life than make a positive impact in someone else’s. I know we will see many examples of this throughout the year within our school community.
I look forward to meeting you all and establishing a strong, collaborative relationship that will benefit our students and your children. I invite you to stop in at the office so that I can introduce myself to you. You can also feel free to contact me at 780-962-8121 or via email at email@example.com
