H.A.S.S. stands for Healthy Active School Symposium. H.A.S.S. is a conference, that schools in one area will send there S.W.A.T. or health team to. Seven kids from each of those schools get to go. I got the privilege to be one.
When we first arrived all the schools gathered in a room together. We all watched videos that introduced each school. I thought that this was a neat way to introduce all the schools. At first i thought H.A.S.S. was going to be boring, but it turned out to be a lot of fun.
Duffield was lucky to have Sarah Yates as this years keynote at H.A.S.S. She went up to present her power point and, talk about Duffield. She talked about Jayden’s Journey, and some stuff our school does. I like the idea of having a different keynote each year.
After this each school went to a presentation. There are two presentations. We choose to go to the impact that humans had on the Earth presentation. Every table got two pieces of paper with a question on it. We had to think of as many answers as we could. Then they took all the answers and turned it into a Wordle. We choose the biggest words and talked about them. After we played evolution. I thought this activity was quite fun and we learned a lot.
After lunch we went to are second presentation. Me and a couple other people went to the tower garden presentation. The rest went to a different one. Since our school had just got a tower garden we thought that it would be a good presentation to go to. We learned about what could be planted, how it worked, and what you used instead of dirt. I think that this helped to know how to do ours.
Overall H.A.S.S. was a fun learning experience. It made learning about the environment fun. I was glad i got the privilege to go. I would love to go again.
