On October 15th Parkland School Division hosted a free Parent Conference centered around the theme “We are Stronger Together”. As a participating partner, Alberta Parenting for the Future provided space for families at the Family Connection Centre. To remove barriers and ensure parents could attend, babysitting for children was provided in both the Family Connection Centre and at the Stony Plain Library. The ten Community Partners in attendance brought information to share and enjoyed conversation with parents.
Approximately 60 parents were engaged throughout the day, learning about mental health topics that can impact families.
Experts share their knowledge about mental health issues that affect one in five students in our classrooms.
