It’s official. This news and event is too exciting not to share everywhere we can. I had the privilege of delivering a speech to students, staff and invited guests to Prescott Learning Centre’s Grand Opening and would like to share here as well.
What a facility! What a terrific, flexible learning environment that will enable our students to bring Parkland School Division’s Vision and Mission to life.
Parkland School Division is truly a place where exploration, creativity, and imagination make learning exciting and where all learners aspire to reach their dreams.
Our purpose is to prepare, engage and inspire our students to be their best in a quickly changing global community.
This building is inspirational. I witness our staff making learning exciting every time I step foot in any one of our schools. Just imagining the possibilities that students have in this building gives me goosebumps.
A lot of people stepped up to the plate to make this happen. To the Province of Alberta and the MLA’s here with us this morning, thanks for your dedication to education and to our future who just happen to be our students. The movement to build all the much-needed schools began with the previous government and was delivered and expanded by our current Alberta NDP. The commitment shown by our current NDP government, during these very trying ecomonic times, cannot to unnoticed. We, at Parkland School Division are truly grateful. I’d be remiss to not recognize the advocacy efforts of retired MLA Doug Horner for his work on both this school and the Wellness Centre you’ll hear more about a little later from our Superintendent, Tim Monds.
To the builders and trades people from Clark and their partners, thanks for your expertise and hard work putting in long hours in sometimes tough weather conditions to construct this building well and on time.
To the teams at Stantec and ACI Architects – thanks for your attention to detail.
To Mayor Houston and aldermen of the City of Spruce Grove, a sincere thank you for going above and beyond in helping to secure the land and services required for Prescott Learning Centre and our future Wellness Centre. A big thank you goes out to our municipal partners at Parkland County and the Town of Stony Plain for their dedication to community. We all know a vibrant community depends so much on the people that live there and a vibrant community happens with strong leadership. In this City, the fastest growing segment of the population just happens to be the students that attend our schools. You’re the reason we’re so proud of our community.
