Kaede’s Multiple Literacy Project
The terms I chose were core shadow, mosaic and campfire. Mosaic and core shadow are used mainly in art. Core shadow is the dark band visible where light and shadow meet. it is a point where light can no longer reach the form to illuminate it. It is the darkest part on a object because it is the least effected by light. Mosaic is a piece of art of image made from small pieces of rocks, coloured glass etc.
The Term, “Campfire” is used in volleyball. It is a term to describe when a ball is returned over the net and it falls in between one or more players, without any of them going after the ball. After the ball has landed and is out of play, the players are then left standing around making it look like they are standing around a “campfire”.
These terms help you when an artist or someone who specializes in volleyball are talking to you. For the art terms, of course, talented artists would know but mainly the people who focuses on realistic art would know what core shadows are and someone who specializes in mosaic art would know what they are. For volleyball, volleyball coaches would know the volleyball term, “campfire” are unless they use other terms to describe it.
