Over the last few weeks, the students have been exploring the various types of circuits. They tested their knowledge about complete circuits, series circuits and parallel circuits by building each type of circuit. Through this hands-on experience, students were able to trouble shoot and identify why some circuits didn’t light, and they also made observations about the differences they found when building the series and parallel circuits.
Students then used their knowledge about circuits and their understanding that a continuing loop of conducting material is needed for the movement of electrons in a circuit to test various items to see if they were insulators or conductors. Through this activity, students were able to conclude that most conductors are metals.
