Below are a few games for students to play to help reinforce concepts we are learning in math right now.
Over the next few weeks, your child will be learning about fractions. Your child will focus on using fractions to name equal parts of a whole, modelling fractions, comparing, and writing about fractions. They will use fraction words such as halves, thirds, fourths, and sixths. They will use numbers such as ½, ⅓, and ⅔, and learn that the top number is called the numerator and the bottom number is called the denominator.
To reinforce the concepts your child is learning at school, you and your child can work on some at-home activities such as these:
You may want to visit the Nelson website at www.nelson.com/mathfocus for more suggestions to help your child learn mathematics and develop a positive attitude toward learning mathematics. As well, you can check the Nelson website for links to other websites that provide online tutorials, math problems, brainteasers, and challenges.
These are great games that will help reinforce concepts we are working on in class!
