About SJF Hoops:
SJF Hoops is a local basketball development service that is run by Scott Jaspers-Fayer, a proud resident of Stony Plain. The goal of SJF Hoops is simple: to help athletes reach their basketball goals, regardless of previous experience. SJF Hoops prides itself on complete basketball development through quality instruction, skill isolation, quality feedback, experienced error correction, and use of modified games. At SJF Hoops camp, players will be able to develop their skills at their own speed, all while having fun! SJF Hoops believes that dedicated time spent on individual skill development to be the most important factor in improvement.
Scott Jaspers-Fayer, who grew up in Guelph, Ontario, played on numerous Ontario Basketball Association Provincial Teams, won his local high school league MVP, drawing interest from numerous NCAA programs and receiving over 40 CIS (now U SPORTS) scholarship offers. He eventually accepted a scholarship to Cape Breton University (CBU), where he was team captain and starting center for four out of his five years of eligibility. Upon completion of his degree, Coach Jaspers-Fayer had numerous professional opportunities to continue playing in Canada and in Europe, but decided to pursue the next phases of his life: teaching and coaching.
While at CBU, Coach Jaspers-Fayer’s passion for coaching began while working with local youth basketball players in the community to refine their skills during the off-season. After witnessing the development of numerous players he coached, it became clear to him that helping the next generation of basketball players grow both their skills and love for the game would be in his future plans. His coaching resume includes a dedication to constant improvement with the National Coaching Certification Program. He has completed Train-2-Train (level 2), and is currently in progress of completing Train-2-Compete (level 3), which would qualify him to work with provincial team and post-secondary level players. Coach has also helped run a variety of high level basketball clinics and camps, including individual and group sessions for over 15 years. Along with clinics and camps, Jaspers-Fayer has also coached high school basketball for eight years in both Ontario and Alberta, including Memorial Composite for the last four years. He has been lucky enough to work numerous players who have gone on to play post-secondary basketball, some who now play professionally.
