On Tuesday, April 24, 2012 we had an assembly on jump roping from two ladies from the Jump Rope for Heart Foundation. Two people named Holly and Oksana came to Millgrove School and picked six grade 4 students to perform with them. Each person who was performing got a skipping rope. They started off with the six performers seeing how fast they can skip. They were pretty fast compared to me and they can do more than me. I sometimes get tangled in the skipping rope. I can jump about seven times. So I am going to practice at least 15 minutes a day to get better. Holly and Oksana announced that we all get our own skipping rope. They also said that we get that we will be doing a fundraiser. The money we raise goes to heart surgery and tools to fix the heart. There are 9 prize levels. If you reach level 1 you get a jump rope or a tattoo. Level 2 you get a flashing flying saucer, level 3 you get a flashing bouncy ball, level 4 you get a Hippity-Hop ball, level 5 you get a hologram soccer ball, level 5 you get a glow in the dark volleyball and for level 7 you get a lunch box that has a radio in it. You can plug your i-phone or i-pod into it and listen to music when you are eating your lunch. They we watched a video on Jump roping. The people in the video were doing lots of tricks with the jump rope. My favourite one was where this guy was jump roping on his butt. They also did back flips and front flips. My second favourite trick was the people doing hand stands while they jump roped. They were doing lots of things with the rope like twisting it around and stuff like that.

Boing! Boing! That’s the sound of Oksana and Holly skipping like they never skipped before. They told us about the Jump Rope for Heart program that helps little babies and adults with heart diseases. If you raise enough money you can win a prize. You can win a tattoo, a glowing saucer that is really easy to catch, a bouncy ball that has strings you pull and when you bounce it all the strings come out and it bounces in all sorts of directions. You can also win a hologram soccer ball and a glow in the dark volleyball, a ball that you can bounce on and a lunch box radio that you can hook up to your i-pod to. We also watched a skipping video with professional skippers. They did flips and handstands. Thank you for coming Jump Rope for Heart!
