Hello!

Welcome to our Grade 1 classroom blog!  Here you will read and find out things that are happening in the classroom, reminders and monthly updates.

The students are settling in quite well to the routines and expectations of grade one.  They are a wonderful group of children and I look forward to our year together 🙂  I was very happy to see many parent faces at “Meet the Teacher”.  Please don’t be a stranger and feel free to drop by to say “hi” anytime!

Few reminders:

** If you have not sent back the school package (signed FOIP form, computer agreement, locker agreement) please ensure that you do so as soon as possible.  School fees are to be paid by the end of September.

**Thank you for reading and initialing your child’s agenda daily.  Please continue to do so as this is one of the ways the students and I communicate about what is going on between school and home.

**Continue to work on letter and sound recognition at home as well as the Dolch Sight Word List that was sent home.  When your child has mastered a word list, send it back to school and a new one will be sent home.  This will aid in their fluency with reading.

**Our spelling program and home reading has begun!  This week students were given 5 words to practice over the week.  Each Friday will be a spelling quiz.  You will find their words listed on the right side of their agenda for the week.

**Lysol wipes and kleenex was not on the school supply list this year.  However, with the cold and flu season just around the corner, if any parents are wanting to donate some to our classroom we would greatly accept it!! 🙂
