4-6 Track Meet

On Tuesday, May 16 Muir Lake School will be holding our grade 4 to 6 Track Meet. It will start around 8:30 and end at 12:30. Rain-out day has been set for Wednesday May 17th.

We are trying something a little new. We will be having an outdoor concession for the WHOLE school. Parents have volunteered to do this and we would like the whole school to enjoy this treat. Junior high students will have access to the concession at lunch recess. Concession items include the following:

  • hot dog $2
  • drinks $1
  • chips $1
  • popcorn $2
  • candy bag $1

Thank you to our parent volunteers for running the concession and a special thank you to the grade 4 to 6 staff for making this a fun day for our students.

WeCare Bake Sale

The WeCare group is hosting a bake sale on Tuesday April 11 and Wednesday April 12 at lunch recess. The sale will be held outside of the library!

Grade 9 Farewell Meeting Time Changed

The farewell meeting will be changed to 8:30 instead of 8:00 as there is a school council meeting the same night.  The meeting will still take place at the Tim Horton’s in Stony Plain – not the one on the highway, but the one at 4805 – 44 Ave.

A message from the Grade 9 Farewell Parents

To all parents of grade 9 students,

In order to discuss plans for the students to celebrate together after the school’s farewell ceremony, a meeting has been arranged for Monday, April 10 at 8:00 pm at the Tim Horton’s in Stony Plain – not the one on the highway, but the one at 4805 – 44 Ave. The students took a survey several weeks ago, and the huge majority voted in favour of a bonfire party. At this meeting, we will try to work out some of the small details that need to be figured out to make the evening fun and safe for our kids. This meeting is for anyone who would like their child to take part in this after party. Please come out and help with the planning to make this event happen for our kids. Thank you!

Memorial Registration and Open House

Just a quick reminder that Memorial is hosting “First-Time Parents” on Tuesday, February 28 at 7:00pm .  This evening is meant for parents seeing their first child through high school.  This will provide an opportunity for parents to become familiar with the school and to meet the school administration and counsellors.  Students do not need attend the First-Time Parents meeting.

Also, the “First Choice Open House” evening will be held at Memorial Composite High School on Thursday, March 2 starting at 6:00pm.  Open House will start with a welcoming address in the large gym.  All grade 9 students are encouraged to attend the Open House evening together with their parents in order to make their final course selections for grade 10.

The grade  9s will be registering for their high school courses at the beginning of March so this is a great opportunity to go meet the teachers and visit each department.  We will have the green recommendation and registration forms completed at the beginning of next week.  This will help guide you on who and where to visit.
