Valentine Good Deeds

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we read the book “Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed”.  In this story a young girl does a good deed which inspires 5 others to pass it on.  Each person pays it forward to five more people, which adds up to more than 6 billion people after just 15 days and covers the entire world!

We also looked at the website Peopleforgood.ca and discussed the scientific research that shows that doing a good deed creates a positive effect in the body that can last for days.  People for Good challenges us to do a good deed daily for a week, and provides a list of over 200 ideas to get us started.

4H decided to combine Ordinary Mary and People for Good, and challenge ourselves to do at least 5 good deeds a day for two weeks.  We have started a list of our own deeds that can be found on our Good Deeds page (see the tab at the top of this page). Please join us in our challenge, and add your comments to our list!
