Getting Ready for the Farm!

Grade 4’s are excited about our upcoming field trip to the Farm! We are very grateful to the many sponsors who have provided this experience free of charge to our students. We appreciate any support that can be given to the Drive for Hunger for our local Food Bank organized by the Farm Credit Corp (FCC). Supplies of pastas, canned meat, soups, fruit and vegetables, cereal, peanut butter, pasta sauce, beans, etc. are always in need and any donations of non-perishable foods are welcomed.
The Farm Credit Corp has provided us with bags for gathering donations. Students will be weighing all goods brought in, and using the results for estimation and measurement activities this week.
While getting ready for City Slickers, students have been wondering about a wide variety of farming related topics. They will be looking for information this week. If you (or someone you know) is an expert on any of these, we would love to hear from you! Please leave us a comment below.

A few things we’ve been wondering about…

Finally, in the spirit of the harvest season, please enjoy this little video.

  1. I am teaching a Grade 3/4 class Science (we are learning about soils right now). We are in a farming community in Saskatchewan. Would you be interested in a video chat to hear our students answers to your questions?
The farmers are in the fields combining now, as the crops are ready for harvest.
