REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE

  • Students are not able to come to school before 7:30 am as the staff is not here before this time.
  • Please let your child’s teacher and/or the office know if your child is going to be away from school or late in the morning.
  • Anytime that your child is dropped off or picked up from school – regardless of the time – they must be signed in or out at the office.
  • All visitors must check in at the office.
  • When coming to pick up your child, please have the secretaries call their classroom and have them sent to the office to meet you.
  • Volunteers – please sign in and out at the office.
  • The 4 pm transfer buses are NOT intended for use by the Muir Lake School students. If your child is staying past the regular bus times, for whatever reason, arrangements must be made to either pick up your child or call transportation (780-963-8425) ahead of time to get permission for your child to ride the 4 pm bus.

When dropping off or picking up your child

Please do so in the Muir Lake Hall parking lot; this is a serious safety concern.

Library News

We are excited to announce that we will be welcoming author Tyler Enfield to speak to Gr. 2–6 on Friday, May 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Tyler has written amazing books titled “Wrush:  The Secret Worlds of Tabetha Bright” and the sequel, “Wrush: Tabetha’s Last Task”. We have had fantastic reviews from other schools within our division about his presentation.  You will have received a letter and order form in April.  You can learn more about “Wrush” by clicking the link.

Track Meets

There will be a Muir Lake School Track Meet on May 11, 2012 from 8:30-12:10. This track and field meet will be for grade 4-6 students.  Parent volunteers are needed and more news and requests for volunteers will be coming out at a later date.

The Parkland School Division Track and Field Meet is on May 31 at Blueberry school.

Penny Drive

Muir Lake School is participating in a Penny Drive for the Parkland Food Bank.  With 48% of the clients being children, it would be great to see children helping children through this drive.  Please send in your pennies and help us fill our buckets.  We will be collecting from now until May 11.  There are prizes for the classes who bring in the most pennies per student.  Thank you for helping to take the bite out of hunger in our community!

Postcard Project

Thank you for your participation in sending postcards to Mrs. Matsuba’s class.  It is fun to receive the postcards and a great way to learn about the world around us.  Postcards can be brought to the school or mailed to the following address:

Mrs. Matsuba’s Grade 2 Class
c/o Muir Lake School, Mail Bag 500, Stony Plain, AB T7Z 1Y5

Please keep them coming all year long.

Mrs. Matsuba is also looking for old “Scrabble” letter tiles.

Fundraising

Back by Popular Demand!
Write-On Stationery is offering the parents of Muir Lake School the opportunity to pre-purchase their school supplies.  Write-On will purchase, package and deliver all of your children’s school supplies for the next year.  You should have received an order form from the school: fill it out, return it to the school and pick up your supplies at the end of August. Extra forms are available in the office OR new for this year – order and pay for your supplies online.  As a fundraiser, Muir Lake School will receive a percentage of all orders placed – it’s just that easy!

Calahoo Meats Fundraiser

Thank you for supporting Muir Lake School through our Annual Calahoo Meats Fundraiser!  The delivery date is tentatively set for Wednesday, May 16th between 1:00 and 4:00pm at which time you are responsible for picking up and distributing as ordered.

Campbell Soup Labels

It is the year-end wrap-up for the Campbell Soup Labels.  Please bring in any remaining labels by the end of May so they can be submitted prior to the end of the school year.  Thank you for your support in this fundraising effort. Please continue collecting during the summer and we will start fresh in September.

Blizzards…

Blizzards will be available upon order for May 25th and June 1st. The proceeds will go towards Grade Nine Farewell.
Blizzard order forms have been sent home and are due by Monday May 14th.
