Muir Lake School, in association with Muir Lake Church and Community League, is participating in the Samaritan’s Purse shoe box drive again this year. Operation Christmas Child is a project designed to bring joy to children who wouldn’t normally receive a gift at Christmas. It has been operating since 1993 and delivers boxes full of gifts to third world countries or countries struggling with war.
If your family would like to take part in this campaign, all your child needs to do is pick up a box and brochure from the office and follow the instructions on how to fill a shoe box. Bring the filled shoe box back to the classroom or office between November 4th and 14th. The boxes will then be taken to Muir Lake Alliance Church to be sent on the next leg of their journey.
If you would like to learn more about Samaritan’s Purse you can go to www.samaritanspurse.ca. This, of course, is a completely voluntary project, but is hugely worthwhile and can bring tremendous reward to both the children who pack the boxes and those who open them. We have always been delighted with the outstanding response to this charity event and are hoping for an amazing 2013 shoe box season.
Thank you, in advance, for all your help.
