We Day 2013

On October 24, 20 students and supervisors travelled to the Calgary Saddledome to participate in We Day. We Day is a youth rally that is dedicated to inspiring and motivating students to learn about the world and strive to make a difference. We Day is hosted by Marc and Craig Kielburger and their charitable organization “Free the Children”. Craig Kielburger began this charity when he was 12 years old and has been working ever since on helping children around the world. Craig and his brother have both received the Order of Canada and have been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. On the 24th, the Kielburgers were joined on stage by numerous entertainment acts, inspirational speakers, and motivational individuals. Our group was thrilled to participate and excited to have the opportunity to see and hear people such as Spencer West, Amanda Lindout, Magic Johnson, the Kenyan Boys Choir, Martin Luther King III, and Nelly Furtado. In exchange for the free tickets, our 20 students that make up our We Care Team will be organizing and running events in our school to raise awareness and funds for those in need, both locally and globally.

Waiting for the doors to open.

Special thanks to Chris Hansen Marketing, in Stony Plain, for helping us with our awesome team building t-shirts.
