Muir Lake Logo

Students are invited to participate in designing a new logo for Muir Lake School.  This is a critical thinking challenge for students from K-9. The new logo will replace the old logo once our supplies have been used. This is an opportunity for students to work independently on their own time. It is a chance for students to show their creative ability and contribute to the enrichment of our school.

For entries to be considered the Logo must include:

  • School name
  • School colour ( Royal blue)
  • Not to include more than four colours
  • Can be a digital submission (beware of copyright regulations)
  • Due April 10, 2015

Criteria

  • Simple
  • Memorable/recognizable
  • Representative of our school community
  • Appropriate

This project is to be completed at home.

“Why Inquiry” Parent Council Presentation

Mrs. Badry, Mrs. Stride-Goudie and I had a wonderful opportunity to share how Muir Lake School is teaching through inquiry to our Parent Council at last night’s meeting. Thank-you for the awesome discussions and we look forward to many more. Below is a copy of the presentation we presented. Please feel free to contact us with further questions you may have.

Grade 9 Farewell

From the Gr 9 Farewell Committee . . . . . . .

Hello Parents/Guardians of Grade 9 Students:

In an effort to reduce overall out-of-pocket expenses associated with the Grade 9 farewell, an organized bottle drive will be scheduled in early Spring 2015. However, there has been feedback shared at the parent/student meeting for the Grade 9 farewell, that schedules of both students and parents, may prevent involvement on the specific date selected in the Spring.

As such, those who would still like to take an active role in reducing the costs associated with helping our children celebrate – dance/ceremony and camp out – can simply do so by going to either the Spruce Grove or Stony Plain bottle depot and donating the funds.  An account has been set up with both depots — “Muir Lake School – Grade 9 Farewell”.

Cheers and may you all enjoy the New Year!

Student Leadership Appreciation

Today we had the opportunity to recognize the students who have volunteered their time consistently since October of this year as Crosswalk Leaders, Kindergarten Lunch Leaders, Playground Leaders and our Tech Team Leaders. At the start of each term, students have the opportunity to “apply” to one or more of these positions, and then it is up to them to show up on the appropriate day and time to do their job.
They are valued at our school and we sincerely appreciate them giving their time!
Thank you MUIR LAKE LEADERS!
