Muir Lake School would like to welcome Ms. Shireen Mohammed as our new Assistant Principal for the 2015 2016 school year.
Shireen Mohammed recently celebrated her 25th year milestone with Parkland School Division at our last Milestones and Merits event. She began her teaching career in California in 1988 and returned to Canada to begin her journey with PSD back in 1990. The majority of Shireen’s career was at École Broxton Park School where she taught special education, early and middle years. She joined the team that opened Greystone Centennial Middle School in 2005 in team-teaching, special education lead and counseling roles. Shireen served as a Learning Services facilitator for program support from 2009 – 2012 before starting her current role as an Assistant Principal with Connections for Learning.
Shireen graduated from the University of Alberta in 1988 with her Bachelor of Education with a minor in special education. Her commitment to life-long learning will continue as she begins a Masters in counseling program this fall.
“I have had the opportunity to experience some wonderful learning environments at my stops along the way. I have thoroughly enjoyed the environment and excellent alternative programming that ‘Connections’ has offered these last few years. I am excited to start another journey with Muir Lake students, staff and parents.”
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Nealle Dickson for her dedication to the students, staff, parents and school for the past year as she took on the role of Acting Assistant Principal – it has been greatly appreciated.
