How Art Heals Grief

Strong Families Series: How Art Heals Grief

November 28, 2018 – Parkland School Division is proud to present another FREE information session for caregivers.

Our upcoming session will help parents better understand the complex physical and emotional effects felt by both children and adults who are grieving, and how expressing themselves through arts and crafts can aid them in the healing process.

Strong Families Series: How Art Heals Grief

Date: Tuesday, December 18, 2018
Time: 6-7:30pm
Location: Parkland School Division Centre For Education Board Room (4603 48th Street, Stony Plain)

Presented by Jean Tait, Professional Art Therapist (Member of Canadian & American Art Therapy Associations)

In this session, parents and guardians are invited to spend the evening with an accredited art therapist to gain an understanding of how adults and elementary school children experience and express grief, and the role arts and crafts can play in helping them improve their self-esteem and self-awareness, build on their emotional resilience and ease their distress, ultimately paving their way to a place of renewal and healing.

A light supper will be provided. Limited childcare is available.

Space is limited, so please register early to reserve your spot.

Please direct your grade 6 to 9 students to the link on the left side of the main blog page called CTF Option Course Registration – have them go to it and register for Term 2 CTF Courses prior to Friday November 30th OR simply go to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfgiqDnOZFw2gF4uhI6es9uo0MCUhUaInKIfsM8896qX6dDsQ/viewform and fill in the registration form.
We encourage you to speak with your children about their choices and read the CTF Course Descriptions carefully and pick what they want – not what their friends are picking as we discourage switching as these courses are about exploring new avenues. CTF Option Course Descriptions can be found as a link on the the left side of the MLS Blog page or click this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XKOnFiG5YV8_kdKx7nl7HG_FxwmyxzVF/view?usp=sharing
