Beaver Dam Dangers

Please be careful of the THIN ICE! Reposting this as a reminder.

The owners of the property behind Muir Lake School have asked us to pass this along to you as a precaution . . .

Below the snow is ice and water, while some of the water is shallow, some of it can be quite deep; especially near the Beaver Dam.  The beavers require the water to be at least 4 feet deep to adequately build a dam and survive under water through the winter, with our mild winter thus far the ice has not yet frozen thick enough for it to be safe to walk on. With this depth of water and thin ice a person could easily be in danger of falling through and drowning. They are requesting that no one walk on any of the flooded areas.  If you would like to observe the beavers, please do so from a safe distance.

Although our students have been advised that they need permission to be on the property after school hours, we find it necessary to remind you of the dangers and ask that everyone be respectful of the Jespersen’s request to insure everyone’s safety. Technically if you are on the property after school hours you are trespassing. Should you wish to obtain permission to be on the property, please contact Derek Jespersen directly at 780-819-0164.

Thank you for your consideration and understanding while we continue to insure the safety of our families.

Term 3 CTF Course Registration is Open

Term 3 CTF Option Course Registration is now OPEN!!!
Please direct your grade 6 to 9 students to the link on the left side of the main blog page called CTF Option Course Registration – have them go to it and register for Term 3 CTF Courses  prior to Friday March 15th OR simply go to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfgiqDnOZFw2gF4uhI6es9uo0MCUhUaInKIfsM8896qX6dDsQ/viewform and fill in the registration form.
We encourage you to speak with your children about their choices and read the CTF Course Descriptions carefully and pick what they want – not what their friends are picking as we discourage switching as these courses are about exploring new avenues. Please note that some of the courses have fees attached to them and these fees will be automatically added to your child’s PowerSchool Account.
CTF Option Course Descriptions can be found as a link on the the left side of the MLS Blog page or click this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TRDOj7p6hNm7pgD7BP321Bih64lIM-t-/view?usp=sharing
Grade 6 Art with Ms Wayken on day 5 will be with students in group 3 this term and students in Art Group 1 & 2 will register for CTF courses. Students know which group they are in and their homeroom teacher also have a list posted. It is also important to be aware that Musical Theatre will run for 2 terms during terms 2 & 3, so if your child is currently in Musical Theatre on Day 5, then they simply select only a day 2 CTF Course.
Thank you and always, should you have any questions please feel free to contact the office at 780-963-3535.

Choral Celebration

The Muir Lake Glee Club (our junior high choir) is excited to be travelling to Edmonton on Monday, March 18 to participate in the PSD Choral Celebration.  This is an annual event in which schools from our division are invited to come and share their talents.  In past years, our younger choir has attended, but this year we are excited to bring this talented group of girls.

Parents are welcomed to attend the Choral Celebration.  It will be held at the Beulah Alliance Church, 17504 98a Ave NW, Edmonton from 10am-noon.

We recognize our wonderful volunteer pianist, Mrs. Lindsay Eklund for accompanying us for practices and the upcoming performance.  Without her this would not be possible!
