Alice In Wonderland

The Musical Theatre option is proud to announce the coming performances of Alice In Wonderland!  The grade 7-9s involved in this CTF class have been working so hard on props, backdrop, lines, choreography, and costumes.  It is going to be an amazing show!

Tickets will go on sale in the office beginning May 1, 2019 for $6.00 each.  There will be 2 performances on Tuesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 30.  Both are at 7:00pm in the Muir Lake School gym.  There are a limited number of tickets, so get yours soon to avoid disappointment.

The actors in this play will not be using mics, so we ask that you do not bring infants or small children who cannot sit quietly through the hour long performance.  Thank you for your consideration in this.

MLS & Evergreen Theatre presents Nature

Muir Lake School is excited to welcome Evergreen Theatre!

From May 6-10 artists from Evergreen Theatre will be working with all kindergarten to grade 5 students at Muir Lake School. Throughout the week students will work with artists to create a story aligning to the science curriculum. On Friday evening, there will be a show for families to attend. To make this performance successful, students need to be committed to being a part of the creation and presentation of this show. To best prepare this performance we need to know who will not be able to attend.  Please complete the bottom portion of the form linked HERE and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, May 3rd.Tickets for the 1:15 pm and the 6 pm performances are available in the office for $5 each and due to fire regulations everyone attending must have a ticket, regardless of age.

All proceeds are going to the Muir Lake Community School Foundation.

Thank you

Annual Spell A Thon

Our Muir Lake School Community Foundation is hosting the annual school spell-a-thon to raise funds for sports programming, arts and culture, literacy, numeracy, science and technology.

Each student should have brought home a Spell-A-Thon package which includes the list of words, chosen by their teacher, and a pledge form. Each student will then practice their word list and go out and collect pledges for the spell-a-thon. They may collect money for each word that they spell correctly or may collect a flat amount. For example, a person might pledge 25 cents per correct word spelled or they might choose a flat amount like $10.00.

We encourage students to limit their sponsors to family, friends, neighbors, and those known to their family.

The time-line is as follows:

April 15th        Student Spell-a-thon packages given out – students can begin gathering pledges

April 23 – 26   Spelling tests given – teachers choose date & time to administer the tests to their   classes, mark the tests

April 29           Tests will be handed back to the students to collect money.

May 6              Money and pledge forms due – money will be counted and prizes tabulated.

The final total and all grand prize winners will be announced and prizes will be distributed to students.

We are excited to change to format for the prizes this year. The more money you raise the more prizes you will collect.

  • If the student raises $ 1 to $19.99 the student will receive Prize A
  • If the student raises $20 to $49.99 the student will receive Prize A + Prize B
  • If the student raises $50 to $99.99 the student will receive Prize A + Prize B + Prize C
  • If the student raises $100 and over the student will receive Prize A + Prize B + Prize C + Prize D

This year the prize levels will be as follows:

  • Level 1 Prize (A) $1 – $19.99 raised will earn a PRIZE

Calahoo Meats Fundraiser

It is Spring, now is a good time to plan your barbeque season! It is also time for the Calahoo Meats fundraiser!

Click the link for an Order Form and/or a product brochure that you can share with your family and friends. Please condense your family & friends’ orders on to one order form.  These forms have gone home with the students.

The order form along with payment will be accepted until the end of the school day on Wednesday May 1st. Please keep a copy of the order form for your records and to help you distribute your order. Late orders will not be accepted as this will delay the pick-up date.  Please make cheques payable to Muir Lake Community School Foundation (MLCSF).

A pick-up date has been set for the afternoon of Thursday, May 16th from 12:00 to 4:00 at the Muir Lake School.  You are responsible to pick up your total order from the school and distribute to your family and friends. It is important to pick up your orders at this time as unfortunately we do not have the freezer space to store the boxes for any length of time.

Should you have any questions about this fundraiser please contact Jen @ 780-983-1316.

Thank you in advance for supporting Muir Lake School and helping to make this fundraiser a success!

Fruit Cup/Yogurt Containers

These are not recyclable any more, but they are upcyclable! Please don’t throw them out. Instead send them into Mrs. Montgomery’s class. We need approximately 150 for a Dr. Suess project we are working on. We are also in need of cornstarch, so if you have an old stale box you want to get rid of we will gladly take that too! Thank you!
