Alice In Wonderland

The Musical Theatre option is proud to announce the coming performances of Alice In Wonderland!  The grade 7-9s involved in this CTF class have been working so hard on props, backdrop, lines, choreography, and costumes.  It is going to be an amazing show!

Tickets will go on sale in the office beginning May 1, 2019 for $6.00 each.  There will be 2 performances on Tuesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 30.  Both are at 7:00pm in the Muir Lake School gym.  There are a limited number of tickets, so get yours soon to avoid disappointment.

The actors in this play will not be using mics, so we ask that you do not bring infants or small children who cannot sit quietly through the hour long performance.  Thank you for your consideration in this.

Make up Help Needed

Mrs. Gottenbos is in need of someone who can help with make up for the upcoming musical theatre productions.  She would need someone to do a simple nose for a mouse, hare, and rabbit prior to that evening’s performance. If you are available and could help on the nights of May 28 & 30, please contact her at  Thank you!

Choral Celebration

The Muir Lake Glee Club (our junior high choir) is excited to be travelling to Edmonton on Monday, March 18 to participate in the PSD Choral Celebration.  This is an annual event in which schools from our division are invited to come and share their talents.  In past years, our younger choir has attended, but this year we are excited to bring this talented group of girls.

Parents are welcomed to attend the Choral Celebration.  It will be held at the Beulah Alliance Church, 17504 98a Ave NW, Edmonton from 10am-noon.

We recognize our wonderful volunteer pianist, Mrs. Lindsay Eklund for accompanying us for practices and the upcoming performance.  Without her this would not be possible!

…And That’s a Wrap!

Thank you all for your wonderful support of our Christmas concerts this year.  Parents, thank you for helping your children learn lines, getting them here early for the performances, and showing up to cheer them on.  They were spectacular!
In the flurry of everything happening, I failed to thank you, the parents, for raising such fantastic kids!  I have the best job and love working with your children.
Also, I am looking for some pictures………. If you have any quality photos you could share with me of any of the three concerts, I would appreciate it.  I failed to organize a photographer, so have very few pictures from our performances.  I am especially looking for group photos of performances; choir & class photos would be wonderful.  Please send them to me at
Thank you & Merry Christmas!

Parkland Middle Schools Concert Band is an after school program open to any Parkland school students in grade 6-9.  Those who have played at least 1 year are welcome to join.  They will meet Mondays at Broxton Park School.  Costs and other details are in the attached information sheet.

If you have never played an instrument but are interested in learning, Miss Brophy will be starting a beginner band after Christmas.

If you have further questions, please contact Mrs. Gottenbos or Miss Brophy at Broxton Park School.

Attention All Singers!

If you had not considered joining choir, but would like to add it to your schedule, please talk to one of the counsellors at the high school to rearrange things or talk to Mrs. Gottenbos for more information.

Also, just to make you aware, there will be auditions for one of the MCHS Choirs this Friday.  Mixed Ensemble is their only select-voice choir where incoming students are required to audition for admittance to the group.  They’re hoping to add a significant number of singers to the group this year (especially men) as they are losing a lot of grade 12s.

Grade 9 students are able to audition between 3:30 and 5:00 on Friday, June 15th.  Auditions are in the music room at MCHS.  You can email the choir directors directly, ( and or contact myself to help make those arrangements.  For auditions, you should prepare an a capella song to sing and then be prepared to do some range and ear testing.   The audition should take approximately 10 minutes.
This is a fantastic opportunity that many of our Muir Lake students have taken and thoroughly enjoyed!  Let me know if I can answer any questions.
