Social Media Awareness and Mental Health Parent Information Night – September 28th
We are very fortunate to have two wonderful lunch programs in our school.
Fundraising Lunches are things like Boston Pizza, Subway, Dairy Queen & Edo Japan.
Our Hot Lunch program is run out of the school whereby volunteers come in and make our children nutritious lunches right here in our school kitchen – this is a tradition that has been going on for over 15 years.
Lunches are ordered ONLINE through www.MuirLakeSchool.HotLunches.Net for a month at a time — and with that being said the due date for September ordering is this Thursday September 14th — so please get your orders in ASAP! No late orders will be accepted.
Please click on the Lunch Programs tab at the top of this Blog page to find more information about the programs.
As mentioned earlier, our lunch programs are run with volunteers, and MANY more volunteers are needed – even if you can only spare a couple of hours a week, it would be appreciated — and greatly needed in order to keep the program running. Please contact Dawn at at 780-910-4765 or email@example.com if you are able to help in any way.

When Exactly? Races begin at 4:00 pm, starting with the youngest runners. Please arrive at the race by 3:45 pm. Parents of students in grades K-4 are required to accompany their child to their running location and they must stay and supervise their child in that location. This year, the cross country coaches are Ms. Wayken, Mr. Shaw and Mrs. Gadoury. Please find one of the coaches as soon as you arrive at the race location. Your coaches will make sure you are signed in and have the correct name and race category label. Parents, you are welcome to leave after your child’s race, or feel free to stay and cheer on other Muir Lakers. All practices will take place during school lunch hours with Ms. Wayken, Mr. Shaw or Mrs. Gadoury. All registered Muir Lake Cross Country athletes need to attend all practices. Practices will be on Monday and Wednesday at lunch recess.
Who? Any child from Grade K-9. Parents are responsible for all transportation.
What? Runners compete against children of the same gender and year of birth (e.g. girls, 2005). The races are through trails or an established route through a schoolyard. It is considered to be an accomplishment just to finish the race; some medals and ribbons are given out to the fastest runners. Born 2010-2012 runners run 800 m, Born 2009-2006 runners run 1000 m and Born 2005 and older runners run 2000 m.
Cost? $5.00 for each race registered. Fees cover costs of medals, ribbons etc.
Thank you, have fun & good luck!

Report cards will be available online via our PowerSchool Parent Portal at the end of today, Thursday June 29th. Copies of the report cards will be going home with students today. Any paper copies not picked up will be available for pickup in the office after August 24th.
Have a great summer everyone and we will see you back on the first day of school, Tuesday September 5th.
Goodwill Industries of Alberta has teamed up with us to do a Goodwill Donation Drive.
On Monday June 26th and Tuesday June 27th there will be a Goodwill truck/trailer here at school. Please drop off your gently used items that you have collected while doing your spring cleaning. This can be done during regular school hours from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Donation bags are available in the school office or simply use a plastic bag from home.
Thank you for your support of Muir Lake School and Goodwill Alberta!
Parkland School Division is changing the way families sign up for Transportation Services. For the 2017 – 2018 school year, we require ALL families to register in advance online starting Monday, June 5th. This includes riders whose Transportation Fees will be $0. Details and links will be shared with parents via email. The good news is, once parents/guardians register online in advance, long line-ups for bus pass sales at the Centre for Education in the fall can be completely avoided.
For the 2017-2018 school year, in order to ensure transportation on the first day of school, applications must be submitted before July 15th, 2017.
Routes and stop locations will be created from application forms received before the July 15th deadline. Applications will continue to be processed throughout the summer; however families are encouraged to guarantee their spots as some routes are currently at or near capacity.
