Leadership option is making a slight change to our smoothie sales. We are now selling juice and breakfast foods every Friday at short recess. We will not be selling smoothies, every Friday, but rather, the last Friday of the month. We are also trying something new next week! If you would like an energy boost, you can get a shot of Kale in your smoothie! The perfect way to get through the last day of the week!!!
It’s that time of the year! Muir Lake Formal Day will be held on Tuesday February 14th from 11:45-2:35. There will be a formal dinner and dance as part of the celebrations.
Our theme this year is “Starry Night”, and we encourage all students in grades 7-9 to attend in their semi formal attire (although this is not mandatory). There is no cost to attend.
See you there!
The Muir Lake leadership option is currently planning our Formal Day. We would like to put a call out to any parent volunteers who are willing to donate their time on the morning of February 14th (around 9-12:30). Volunteers are needed to help prepare and plate the food for our dinner.
We really appreciate the extra help! If you are able to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Arnold email@example.com
1 week left to bring in your donations!!
Again this year, our school is sponsoring families through the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain Christmas Hamper program. This is the 38th year that the Hamper Program has helped those that are less fortunate in Stony Plain and Parkland County. Last year close to 450 families (over 1500 people) were supplied with food, toys and gift cards for much needed necessities. Each grade level in the school has been assigned a family. It is our hope that we will be able to make Christmas a happier time for these families through our community’s generosity. Suggested items to donate are non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, pasta, hot chocolate or hot cider mix, etc. or small gift items like children’s books or stuffed animals. Items donated should be new and unwrapped and need to be in to the school before Friday, December 9th.
On Monday October 31st, Leadership has organized 3 events in which students throughout the school will participate.
The kids carnival will take place from 8:05-11:25 with the grades K-4 attending. In the carnival, students will be taking part in many fun and challenging activity stations.
Leadership students will also be going to classes in grades 5 and 6 to lead Halloween related games.
In the afternoon (12:20-2:35), students in grades 7-9 will take part in their Halloween dance. Our dance DJ is one of our own grade nine students, and we are very excited to get dancing!
Muir Lake Leadership students are currently selling shirts for our annual Tie Dye Fundraiser. We will be selling until Wednesday March 9th and will be dying the shirts from the 9th to the 14th. If you are interested, please bring $10 to your child’s homeroom teacher by Wednesday.
The proceeds of this fundraiser go to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
Formal Day is just around the corner. We will be holding this annual event on Friday February 12th. Muir Lake Leadership is hard at work planning and creating. We would like to ask if there are any parent volunteers who would be willing to help cook the meal on the morning of the 12th.
We are currently, planning and budgeting for a meal, but would also like the input of the volunteering parents.
If you are interested in helping out, please email Mrs. Arnold (firstname.lastname@example.org). We will be sending out emails regarding menu, times etc once we have the group organized.
Muir Lake is so lucky to have such wonderful volunteers. Without our community of parents, we wouldn’t have such great events and opportunities for all our students.
Thank you for all you do!!
