Leyvi Bruha was the lucky winner of a VIP Family Pack of Harlem Globetrotter tickets from the Breakfast Television Shoot Out. Natalie, Leyvi’s mom, had entered the draw and had forgotten all about it until staff from The Breakfast Television called to tell her that they were one of the finalists and that they needed to be downtown Edmonton by 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning so that they could be on the morning show.

It has been an exciting month leading into Spring Break with lots happening here at Muir Lake School. We were visited by the Trustees, Superintendent Tim Monds, and the Parkland Senior Executive team to share in some wonderful learning time. We launched our first Leader In Me assembly where we brought the whole school together to celebrate and promote leadership within our school… and of course our classrooms have been as busy as ever. The grade 2 classes had a great day of learning as they celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We are excited to highlight and share these things heading into Spring Break and look forward to the return of our students after the holiday. We hope that you have a great break!
Superintendent and Trustees Visit to Muir Lake School
We had a great time on March 5, as our Trustees and our Senior Executive Leadership visited our school. It was a great hour of participating in learning with some of our students that led to some great discussion afterwards. Our students demonstrated great leadership, welcoming and involving our guests in their learning activities.
The schedule is out! We are looking forward to an exciting week of basketball! The Sr. tournament starts this week (schedule below) just as our Jr. teams finished their tournament. Congratulations to our Jr. Boys and Girls for both finishing with silver. We are proud of you.
Come cheer on the Mustangs!!!

Happy New Year to you and your families! We hope that you all enjoyed your Christmas break and had a relaxing time with families and friends. We want to thank all of the families for once again supporting the Christmas concerts this year. Again, a huge thank-you to Mrs. Grant, Mrs. Gottenbos, Mrs. Badry and Mrs. Bursey and all of the teachers for doing such a wonderful job of bringing the shows together. All concerts were well attended. Special thanks to Dylan Taylor and Danny Ogurian for serving as Sound Technicians. Many thanks to all that contributed to the Christmas Hampers and Operation Christmas Child this year. Again, Muir Lake School has come through to help others.
We would like to send out a thank you to the teachers and volunteers working as coaches for basketball this season. Continue reading
What a great start to the Sr. boys and girls season! If you haven’t been to the games you are missing out. Our Sr. athletes are making us proud.
The girls are off to a quick 2-0 start, coming from behind to win their last game in overtime. They were trailing at the half, but did not give up and ended up winning by one point in overtime!
The boys have only played one game thus far. After getting behind quite a bit, they rallied to make it a nail biter at the end just coming up short from the victory.
The basketball season is upon us! We are very excited to see our students develop as individuals and as a team. We know it is going to be a great season and that all of our athletes will continue to represent our school well and make us all proud!
This year we have 2 Senior teams, 2 Junior teams, and even a developmental team! We are very excited for this upcoming season, but we still could use some more help! If you are interested in helping in any capacity please contact Travis McNaughton at firstname.lastname@example.org or Scott Mackay at email@example.com or call the school at 780-963-3535.
