Online Registration for the 2018-2019 School Year

Parents/Guardians of Muir Lake Students

Beginning April 1, 2018 registration for the 2018-2019 school year will be conducted exclusively online. ALL parents/guardians MUST select from the following options to begin registering your child(ren) for school and/or busing with Parkland School Division for the upcoming school year.

There are two online forms for the 2018-2019 school year. Parents will be either filling out the ‘New Student Form’ or the ‘Returning Student Form’ via the online registration software PowerRegistration.

New Student is one who has never attended a Parkland School Division school or a student attending a non-Parkland School Division school who has never rode on a Parkland School Division bus before (e.g. students entering Kindergarten, new residents).

Returning PSD families will receive an email directly from central office which will contain a hyperlink for the parents to launch into the process.

This email will be coming from “PowerSchool Registration Support” <noreply@noreply.psrsupport.com>

It’s an easy process for parents/guardians:

  • Make sure you have a Power School Parent Portal. If you have not already created one or need assistance then please contact the Muir Lake School Office.
  • Click on the hyperlink in the email that will be sent April 1st and follow the instructions.

This process will pre-populate the fields on the PowerRegistration form with all the information we currently have on file in PowerSchool. This will give parents/guardians the chance to confirm the information is accurate or to make changes. This process will need to be done for EACH child attending a PSD school OR riding a PSD bus.

While filling in the online registration form parents/guardians will be asked if they require bussing for their child(ren) for the 2018-2019 school year. Please be sure to check off the appropriate answer otherwise bussing will not be provided.

In order for your child to have his/her bus pass for the first day of school (Tuesday, September 4, 2018), bus pass applications must be received no later than 4:30pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 to be included in the routing process. Payment arrangements must be received through PSD’s online payment system (Acorn) or in the Division Office on or before Friday, August 10, 2018 to be eligible to ride the bus the first day of school. Any applications received after the application deadline may not be processed in time for the first day of school. If your child does not have a valid bus pass for the 2018-2019 school year, he/she will not be able to ride the bus.

It is imperative that parents/guardians complete this registration/data verification process before the June 29th deadline. Links to both the PowerSchool Parent Portal and the Online PowerRegistration are available on the PSD 70 Website at http://www.psd70.ab.ca as well as the Muir Lake School Website at  http://muirlake.psd70.ab.ca. Instructions and a tutorial video are also available there.

Bus 344 & M6 CANCELLED

As you may be aware bus M6 and bus 344 were not running this morning due to mechanical issues. We have confirmed with transportation that these 2 buses are still NOT running this afternoon. If your child normally rides either of these 2 buses and are at school today please insure that arrangements have been made for them to get home somehow. If someone other than a parent (or someone that NORMALLY has permission to pick them up) will be picking up your child we will need to have this information conveyed to us in some way. For example if they are going home with a neighbor or friend then we will need to know that they have permission to do so.

Rural Bus Passes

Please read the communication that you should have received from Parkland School Division Transportation department . . . . 

Dear Parents or Guardians of Muir Lake School students,
We’d like to provide the following update when it comes to bus pass pick up for those families who registered online for busing prior to the July 15th deadline.
It was previously communicated that your passes would be processed at the same time as the rest of the Urban Bus Passes for the Town of Stony Plain and the City of Spruce Grove and available to pick up at the Centre for Education in Stony Plain.  In actuality, our Transportation Services staff are diligently processing those right now in time for the Rural Bus Pass Pick Up.
Please accept our apologies for the confusion. Your passes will be available to pick up at Muir Lake School starting Monday, August 28th

Required Online Bus Registration Open Now

Parkland School Division is changing the way families sign up for Transportation Services. For the 2017 – 2018 school year, we require ALL families to register in advance online starting Monday, June 5th. This includes riders whose Transportation Fees will be $0. Details and links will be shared with parents via email. The good news is, once parents/guardians register online in advance, long line-ups for bus pass sales at the Centre for Education in the fall can be completely avoided.

For the 2017-2018 school year, in order to ensure transportation on the first day of school, applications must be submitted before July 15th, 2017.

Routes and stop locations will be created from application forms received before the July 15th deadline. Applications will continue to be processed throughout the summer; however families are encouraged to guarantee their spots as some routes are currently at or near capacity.
