Christmas Concerts

Christmas is coming quickly and we are excited to announce that we will once again be able to showcase the musical skill and talent of Muir Lake students through a grade 1-3 concert and a grade 4-6 concert. This is a great opportunity for students to refine and build their skills to a heightened level. There is a sense of pride and accomplishment that accompanies participation in a performance such as this. As a school, we join the parents and community in celebrating this time of year through music. We look forward to every child participating in their respective performances. The evening performances begin at 7:00 pm, but we ask that the children be in their classrooms by 6:30 pm.

Please mark the following dates on your calendars and plan to attend along with your child(ren).

Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1:00 pm             Dress Rehearsal, Grade 1-3
Tuesday, Dec. 19, 7:00 pm             Grade 1-3 Concert (ticket req’d)
Thursday, Dec. 21, 1:00 pm            Dress Rehearsal, Grade 4-6
Thursday, Dec. 21, 7:00 pm            Grade 4-6 Concert (ticket req’d)

Due to Fire Regulations and to accommodate the large number of vehicles and attendees, we will continue to offer dress rehearsals at 1:00 pm on the day of the evening concert. Dress Rehearsals are a full run through of the program and do not require a ticket. Please remember however, that your child will still need to attend the evening performance. Those attending the evening performance will need to have a ticket. Four tickets for each family for each performance that their children are to attend were sent home, if families do not need all four tickets, we ask that you return the extras to the office. These will then be available to others upon request.

Thank you for your support and planning to accommodate these performances.

Kinsmen Christmas Hampers Due This Friday

Just a reminder that the Kinsmen Christmas Hamper donations are due in to the classroom by this Friday December 8th. Check out our post from November 22nd . . .

Muir Lake Cares! And this has become very evident over the years.

Our school will be collecting donations once again and will be sponsoring families through the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain Christmas Hamper program. For many years The Kinsmen Hamper Program has helped those that are less fortunate in Stony Plain and Parkland County. Last year over 500 families, that’s over 1700 residents, were supplied with food, toys and gift cards for much needed necessities. Each grade level in the school has been assigned a family (see below for details on the families). It is our hope that we will be able to make Christmas a happier time for these families through our community’s generosity. Please click THIS LINK to see a list of suggested items from the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain. Items donated should NOT be wrapped and should be in to the school before Friday, December 8th.

We thank you for your continued support of our communities.

Missing Handbell

handbell

Unfortunately one of our Handbells from our grade 6 Handbell Choir has disappeared after the performance this afternoon – if anyone knows the whereabouts of it or has found it please bring it in to the school. It has a black plastic handle and is one of the smaller ones that is labeled ” Ab “. Mrs. Gottenbos needs to have it back for the Christmas Concert tonight.

Thank you
