“I am really excited to have the opportunity to continue working with the staff, students and parents of Muir Lake School in this new role. As a community, we have worked hard to advance initiatives within the school that support the development of 21st century literacy skills within our students. I am truly looking forward to continuing as a member of this great team, providing support in any way I can. Muir Lake School truly feels like home to me and now my kids as well. We have a school environment that all students including my own children are excited and happy to come to, and that is why I am so grateful for this awesome opportunity!”

Just a quick note to say a HUGE THANK YOU !!!  THANK YOU to the students and staff for participating in building “community” and “family” at Muir Lake School.

It was FANTASTIC to walk around and see the older kids and younger kids paired up together.  I saw smiling faces in EVERY room I walked into … and at every station outside …what AMAZING SYNERGIZE activities for our entire school community !!

At Muir Lake School … we are about providing opportunities … for each of the “7 Habits” … to be fostered …

This week … Habit 6 – SYNERGIZE in ACTION

… I value other people’s strengths and learn from them.  I get along well with others, even people who are different from me.  I work well in groups.  I seek out other people’s ideas to solve problems. I know that “two heads are better than one”.  I am a better person when I let other people into my life and work. (Leader in Me)

Get ready for a fun-filled year at Muir Lake School … with many opportunities to foster “community” and “leadership”.

Hi there everyone,

On Saturday morning … I was sipping a cup of coffee on the deck. The sun was shining and the birds were singing.

I was reflecting … there was LOTS to smile about.

As we head into summer … We all have so much to be grateful for …

As your principal … I am grateful for …

… our school community. A community built on respect, integrity, and leadership.

… a supportive parent community. From hot lunch to field trips to fun day etc. … your partnership is invaluable.

… a committed and dedicated staff who go above and beyond to ensure our students have as many opportunities as possible. We believe at Muir Lake School and Parkland School Division … The world truly opens up.

… an amazing admin team at Muir Lake School … Mr. McNaughton, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Garley. Amazing! Amazing!  Amazing!  THANK YOU!!

…the privilege to serve you as the principal of Muir Lake School.

I can say with confidence that I am truly BLESSED to be a part of this community.

I wish you and your family a restful and peaceful summer!

… Synergize … Sharpen the Saw  …Think “Win Win” …

See you in September …

 Karen  (:

Hi there everyone.

Just a few reflective thoughts as we head into summer …

Leader In Me …

Our students have consistently demonstrated the 7 Habits this year and it was incredible to witness their leadership in our Celebration Assemblies.  Our students see a leadership opportunity and they … go for it. I am grateful for the Leader in Me Initiative, which is giving us a framework and a common language for leadership.

Technology …

Thank you again for an AMAZING year at Muir Lake School ! Mr. McNaughton and I were reflecting Friday afternoon after the hallways were quiet.  We were talking about how proud we are of our learning journey this year … especially in technology. As a staff, we have all taken risks as learners … and our students and community have truly benefitted. It is very, very exciting!!!

Staff …

As we held our final staff meeting of the year. We took time to give thanks for this year.  Mr Rowse kicked off our Round Robin in style … ” I am grateful for everyone in this room”, he stated.

We proceeded around the room to hear many comments such as

… how truly GREAT our students are

… how much we are going to miss this group of grade nines  — they have touched our hearts deeply …

… we have a very supportive parent community

… we are really blessed here at Muir Lake

… what a great place this is to work

… what an awesome place this is for their own children

…”I love it here!”

… etc …

On behalf of the staff …  have a GREAT summer …

… Synergize … Sharpen the saw  …Think win win …
