Hot Lunch Volunteers Needed

As most of you know, and hopefully your children have enjoyed, our Hot Lunch program runs from November to the end of April each year and we offer a hot and healthy lunch to the students four days a week. We hand make and cook everything on site and include a fruit, vegetable, and either a real fruit juice box or milk with each meal for an incredibly low price and a variety of soups. The reason we can keep the price so low is because of our amazing volunteer pool.

We are always looking for new volunteers to join our program, your commitment can be as small or large as your schedule can handle. There are many different positions in the Hot Lunch program like cooking, money count, data entry, shopping, and menu planning. We cook Tuesday through Friday generally from 9:00-1:00. You don’t need to be a fancy cook or commit to coming each week. All menu items, recipes, and preparation details are provided. If you are only able to help one day a month, every other week, or each week, we can schedule you into a group with a team leader on the day of your choosing.  We understand that being a parent it can be sometimes hard to add more to your plate with volunteering; but here are some of the benefits of volunteering with the Hot Lunch program. On your cooking day you will enjoy a free lunch, as a thank you for your help we also provide lunch vouchers that can be used for free lunches for your child(ren), at the end of the year we take you for a wind up luncheon, and also at the end of the school year we are invited to the volunteer tea put on by the students and staff. While you spend your time in the school you get to know the teachers, office staff, other parents, and not to mention being able to see your children in their own environment.

Just a reminder that the deadline for ordering lunches for the month of October is very quickly approaching.

Go to the Lunch Program tab at the top of the MLS Blog and follow the instructions accordingly.  You will need to RE-CREATE your user name and password for the lunch program.  

Simply go to and go from there.

Lunch Order Due Dates are as follows:

  • October Menus are due Sept 18
  • November Menus are due Oct 16
  • December Menus are due Nov 20
  • January Menus are due Dec 18
  • February Menus are due Jan 22
  • March Menus are due Feb 19
  • April Menus are due Mar 19
  • May Menus are due Apr 16
  • June Menus are due May 14

Lunch Programs

schoollunchThe fundraising lunch program is underway (which consists of orders from DQ, BP, Subway, Taco Time, & Edo) – if you have placed an order, you should be receiving an email at the beginning of each week outlining the details (unless you have opted out of receiving an email).

For the month of October fundraising lunches are being served on Monday and Thursday – please be sure to send lunches for your children on the other days.

The Hot Lunch Program will begin in November and depending on which class your child(ren) is/are in, hot lunches are prepared by volunteers in the school and served to students on either Tuesday & Thursday or Wednesday & Friday.  From November to April while the Hot Lunch program is operating the fundraising lunch program will revert back to just being offered on Monday.

What’s Happening in October?

October 5th – 9th:  Scholastic Book Fair – come check out our Monster Book Fair – able to volunteer some of your time at the Book Fair? Print off this form and send it in to the school. 

October 7th & 8th:  Parent / Teacher Interviews – all grade 1 to 9 teachers will be in their classrooms for interviews. Go online to to book your time interview with your child’s homeroom teacher. (This includes our grade 7 to 9 teachers as well). Interviews with our kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bursey, will happen at a later date.

October 8th: QSP Magazine Subscriptions – place your order by this date to recieve DOUBLE POINTS.  Go online to to place your order or bring it in to the school. Be sure to use our School Group #3693017.

October 12th:  Thanksgiving Monday – no school

October 13th:  QSP Magazine Subscriptions – deadline to get your orders in to the office or online at  Don’t forget our School Group #3693017

October 13th & 14th:  School Photos – Lifetouch Canada will be in on Tuedsay to do the school photos for all of our K to 9 classes EXCEPT Mrs. Daub’s grade 4 class. THEN on Wednesday they will return to take photos of our Monday/Wednesday kindergarten class as well as Mrs. Daub’s grade 4 class.  Any students that were absent on Tuesday will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken on Wednesday.

October 16th:  November lunch orders due – go online to to place your order before it is too late!

Hot Lunch Volunteer Information

Thank you to all of our Hot Lunch Volunteers for another GREAT year!

The Hot Lunch program (usually served Tuesday to Friday), for the 2014-2015 school year finished at the end of April but the Fundraising Lunch program continues until mid-June on Mondays and Thursdays.

So . . . . if your child usually gets hot lunch on Tuesday and Thursday or Wednesday and Friday, this will NOT be the case in May & June, please remember to send a lunch for your child. If you are not sure whether or not you ordered for that day, be sure to check the link on the “Lunch Programs” tab to see what days Fundraising Lunches will be served during the months of May and June.

Beginning in the fall 2015, the Hot Lunch program will be online with the Fundraising Lunch program.

Lunch & Popcorn Orders

Fundraising Popcorn Orders and April Lunch Order Forms are now available from your homeroom teachers.
