Strong Families: Marijuana Presentation

Parkland School Division is proud to partner with Alberta Health Services and the RCMP to present another FREE information session for caregivers.

Our second April session will help parents learn more about the effects marijuana has on the brain, discover teen trends regarding marijuana use and gain a better understanding of the new federal legislation that will legalize, regulate and restrict access to marijuana.

This session will follow a slightly different format than that of previous Strong Families events, and will take place at Spruce Grove Composite High School. Please make your own arrangements for supper and childcare. Though this session is geared towards adults, teens are welcome to attend with their parents or guardians.

Strong Families Series – Marijuana 101

Date: Thursday, April 19
Time: 6-7:30pm
Location: Spruce Grove Composite High School (1000 Calahoo Road, Spruce Grove)

Marijuana, used legally or not, can have a significant impact on the lives of teenagers. The ever-evolving landscape of marijuana use can be difficult for parents to navigate, as much has changed since the 1960s.

This session will provide parents with balanced information on marijuana and its effects, including the impact this drug can have on the developing adolescent brain. Learn how to start an open discussion on this subject with your teen and support them in making informed decisions about substance use. Leave with a better understanding of how to help your teen build resiliency, and how to access appropriate resources if you need them.

Join us for an in-depth discussion of these topics and more.
