Gr 7 to 9 Marmot Basin Ski/Snowboard Trip

The grade 7, 8, and 9 students are going on a downhill ski/snowboard trip to Marmot Basin outside of Jasper on Friday, March 17th 2017. This is an activity relating to their Winter Sports studies in Physical Education. If students do not wish to attend this ski/snowboard trip then there will be activities planned at the school on this day.

Students will need to come properly dressed with ski pants, hats, gloves, etc. Students can bring and use their own ski equipment or it can be rented at the ski resort. Ski helmets are mandatory. Students will receive a helmet free of charge or they can bring their own.

We will be leaving Muir Lake School at 4:30 a.m. sharp on Friday, March 17th and will arrive at the ski hill at approximately 8:30 a.m. We will be leaving the hill at 4:00 p.m. to return to Muir Lake School at 8:00 p.m. the same day. Students should arrive at the school by 4:15 a.m. in order for equipment to be loaded and to ensure a prompt departure at 4:30 a.m. Students will need a ride to and from school. Students need to be dressed appropriately for the bus ride as well and we recommend that students wear sun protection for all outdoor activities.

Students should eat a good breakfast in preparation for the day. They are welcome to purchase their snacks, lunch and supper at the ski hill, but should recognize that they are costly. They are welcome to bring their own bag lunch/supper and snacks from home. We will not be stopping in Jasper.

The cost to the students will be as follows:

  • $100.00 includes transportation, video-equipped luxury motorcoach, full day lift ticket, ski or snowboard lessons, GST and park pass
  • $24.00 ski, snowboard, snow blades, or snowboard equipment rental (if needed)
  • Free mandatory helmet (if needed)

Students are allowed to attend as long as the following criteria has been met:

  • Students have demonstrated in the school that their behaviour is such that they would not endanger the safety of others (i.e., following directions).
  • Students must be dressed appropriately for the outdoor conditions and to be outdoors for the entire day.

Trip Registration & Payment Instructions
Please go online to the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://powerschool.psd70.ab.ca/public and log in to your participating child’s account. At the top of the page click on your child’s name and select the STUDENT FEES tab on the left side of the screen. At the bottom under ADDITIONAL ITEMS click on the FIELD TRIPS tab and select the MARMOT BASIN STUDENT TRIP fee. Complete the participant information portion of the online form and then select ADD TO CART. Student information and RENTAL INFORMATION will also be collected through the ONLINE payment system. 

Fees will automatically be added to your child’s PowerSchool account. Payment is to be made online via debit/credit card by clicking the CHECKOUT button in the top right-hand corner of the fees page.

Please be sure to complete the PERMISSION AND MEDICAL INFORMATION FORM that is linked HERE and also on the online portion. This form MUST be completed, signed and returned to the school by February 24th.

Space is LIMITED and will be restricted to students only. Registration will be on a “First Come, First Served” basis so please get your registration in Online ASAP.

If you are unable to complete this payment through our ONLINE system, then payment via cash or cheque (payable to Parkland School Division 70) can be sent to the office and must be accompanied by the completed Payment Remittance Form which can be obtained at THIS LINK with the Permission and Medical Information Form. This needs to be done by Friday February 24th.

Marmot Ski Trip Cancelled

Marmot BasinDue to lack of interest from our grade 7 to 9 students, the trip to Marmot scheduled for February 14th has been cancelled. Payments have been returned to the students, so please be sure to check with them.  Friday, February 14th will be classes as usual for all students at Muir Lake School. We will try to organize the trip again next winter and apologize for any inconvenience.

Gr 7 – 9 Marmot Ski Trip

Our grade 7 to 9 students have the opportunity to go skiing/snowboarding to Marmot Basin Ski Resort in Jasper once again as part of the phys ed curriculum.  This trip will take place on Friday March 15th.  The permission/information form is available by clicking HERE and payment is due in to the homeroom teacher by Thursday February 28th.

Gr 7 to 9 Marmot Basin Ski Trip

Due to conflicts with the Sr Basketball County Tournament and the MCHS Open House, the grade 7 to 9 Marmot Basin Ski trip has been rescheduled FROM Thursday March 8th to Tuesday March 13th.  Please be sure to get a copy of the new permission letter from your child, sign it, and return it to school by Tuesday March 6th.  Thank you and we apologize for the inconvenience.
