Today we learned about the invisible hand in the economy. The invisible hand works in a market economy pushing the prices higher and lower. Market economy’s are controlled by individuals, the consumers. The way that they work is the supplier will put out advertisements for their idem. Depending on how popular the advertisements are the company will try and find the happy medium of how much they can sell it for and how much they can make off it. Say if u sell this amazing dog leash and it costs $2 to make and you sell it for $4 you make a two dollar profit. And if you sell it for only $4 dollars lots of people will buy it. About 1 million people at a $2 dollar profit a leash is a 2 million dollar profit. But say you want to sell it for more, around $7 for the leash and it still costs $2 to make but now only 850 000 people want it. You make 2 975 000 dollars. So now you make more leashes seeing its success. You re-invest $1 000 000 into it thinking you will get the same outcome and sell all of you leashes and get a $4 000 000 profit. But now other people see how well your leashes are selling so they make their own brand. To outdo them you must lower your prices as theirs is two dollars less. Now that your leash has competition you only make $3 profit on each.

In market economy’s consumers drive all economic decisions. The government has almost no say in can or can’t not be made to supply the consumers with what they want or need.

Supply and demand also pushes forward the economy. For example

If demand for the product goes up and stays there the supply will go down as people are buying it up so the price will go up as the company knows that more consumers want the idem even though it is in limited supply. If the price starts high though the demand from the consumers will decrease as not as many people can afford it so the company can over supply. Sometimes the Suppliers start with too much anticipating a bigger blow out that they actually got. When this happens he price will go down to encourage buyers to buy more and sell them out faster. When this happens demand goes up for the product and eventually so does the price. If other company’s see the success of another ones product they will sometimes imitate it, like the Xbox and PS3. Producers attract the consumers bye advertisements and lowering their prices. This forces the original company to lower their prices also.

Hello! I know it has been a long time since the ship left the harbor on the way for a better life. Everyone is very busy every day that the weather let’s use work. The other people here are great and all pull their weight using their skills. The great noble Sir Michael Stone the defender of Corn Crunches has decided to join us on are quest to take over the land, or at least are 10km by 10km section of land. It includes a lush forest full of birch and poplar trees. We have a river that we have built a doc on and now that we fish from. The main catch is trout and the odd salmon or two. We have a big house that overlooks are land that we just now are putting the finishing touches on. Construction has been slow on the new blacksmith barn.

Nolan, are blacksmith is very good with working with all sorts of metals that we buy from another settler, Cole. Nolan has begun making equipment for everyone to hunt and if needed to ward off other settlers. It includes weapons such as throwing knifes to kill fast moving animals like gofers and rabbits, axes to cut down are trees for building the frame of our house and to use to help keep him ovens at the optimal temperature for smelting. He also forges pickaxe heads and he made shovels to speed up the planting of are tomato plants, potatoes, carrots and cabbages. He scavenges all the ore he can from rocks we have traded with other land settlers and makes arrow heads. We take the arrow heads and make spears and arrows with them. We normally spear fish off are doc for fun when the mood is down and tend to the fire at night. With no fire there is no heat and it is very cold in the winters.

Are servants Lisa and Maysen tend the food and when we are gone out hunting for deer to the south in the short grass. Unfortunately wolfs can live there to, are cows maybe at risk. The cows produce food and are main source of calcium with their milk. Are chickens help us have a well-balanced diet and feed us as well keeps us supplied with lots of feathers for arrows, fishing and pillows. We have a horse that makes it easy to transport are fish and lumber to are house to be chopped and stored. We use Bow and arrows coupled with spears to hunt wild pig also known as wild boar.

The queen has visited us two times and we have earned are right to stay on are land for two years longer. The only bad things about her visits are that she brings news of war and some of use must go and fight or land owners must send animals and goods. Some of our neighbors were proclaimed governors of their land. Are only worry now is that that group five will dam up the top of the river, and that is the only water source. But if we get word that they might do that we will just make a lake to let water pool in to.

Theme I think the theme of this book is you can’t run away from your problems, they will only get bigger and worse.

Quote 1 :“The….Riverwood? The… Oh God! The Riverwood Clinic? Holy….no,no,it can’t… I wouldn’t I couldn’t. The Riverwood! Kelly sh-h-h-h…hang on,sh-h-h-h… I’ll just be sh-h-h-h.” I put this quote with pictures of people with question marks above them to show that Dani had no clue what was going on and how she got there, the man with the map. It shows that you might not know were you are but you can find a way.

Quote 2: “O-o-o-o number two Pooh Bah was there with number one Pooh Bah?” I put this quote with a face of shock and envy because I think

Scratch envied Dani for getting so much attention from Dr. Thurber in such a short period of time. Scratch being a long time inhabitant of the asylum was bordering on jealousy.

Personal statement: “ One of her best friends instantly became her enemy, in the race to getting out.”

Quote 3: Dr.Thurber: “We’ll do even better next time.”

Dani: “Dr.Thruber?”

Dr.Thurber: “Yes Dani?”

Dani: “Thanks”

I think this was a very important session in Dani’s healing because it symbolized that she started to get an idea on how to speed up getting out of the asylum and speed her healing. I put a light bulb on that slide to show that’s where she really opened up and went “Oh” I get how to get out of here.

Personal statement: “When the light bulb turns on, so does the whole hope.”

Quote 4: Dani: Was it him? She sidled up close to the windowpane, framing her eyes against the sun. That stride, shoulders razor-sharp and straight. That stride, that Master of the Universe stride. She could feel the cashmere kiss of him suit from five floors up. “Daddy wait”. I thought that this was a very important because it gave her a sense of pride that she was safe away from her father but sad because she could not talk and forgive him. I put a half and half smiley face on it to show that she was happy but had mixed feelings of sadness.

Personal statement: “When he walks away you must realize that this might be the last time you see him.”

Quote 5: : “Dani, your mother says that you are good through and through. All the time. Nonstop, she talks about how pure you are. Are you hearing this? She said you are good.”

Dani: “She did?”

Dr.Thurber: “She did.”

Dani: “That’s good. Right?”

I put this in because I think this was a key moment to see if Dani had actually gotten better or was just faking it the entire time. I put a worried face on because of what Dr. Thurber said what her mom said, “she talks about how pure you are. Are you hearing this? She said you are good.” I thought that this was sort of a test so see how Dani would react. The worried face is for the last sentence that Dani said “That’s good. Right?” This told me that she was put off guard on this question. The worried face is what I think is what was on her face when she said this.

Quote 6: Dr.Thurber: “Try to entertain this for a moment. Your mother did break out of her prison. You saved Saraya The game is done. Your mother is Free!”

Dani: “But Mother was not Saraya. We had rules. We, Kelly and me, didn’t bring them into the Game in any way shape or form. You haven’t been paying attention!” This is where I think the worst of Dani came out. I put frustrated faces there to show that this is a very stressful moment for her. I think she was put back weeks because of thinking and focusing on ‘The Game” again, not her therapy.

Personal statement “Yelling is a sort of healing.”

Quote 7: Dani inhaled and adjusted her power, trying to shift it lightly. “Mother, we’ve never had a cup of coffee together.”

Dani’s mother: “Exactly,” said her mother.

) Dani inhaled and adjusted her power, trying to shift it lightly. “Mother, we’ve never had a cup of coffee together.”

Dani’s mother: “Exactly,” said her mother.

I think this is my best slide. I chose this quote and picture to go together because the box is random. You don’t know what is going to come out of this good, bad or anything. I think this is much like them going out to coffee together. You don’t know what will happen this is their first coffee together. There is no previous conversation to lead with so you don’t know if it will go good, bad or if anything will come out of it.

Personal statement “You don’t know what will come out of the random box.”

Canada’s Report Card

Pursue social, cultural and economic benefits for all Canadians. (Immigration and refugee protection act)

Mark: A. Because they let immigrants of all races into the county and make sure they get a job, and they help them integrate into Canadian society. From the immigration act they lowered the amount of landing money new immigrants need to get into Canada. Because of the charter of the United Nations, the Chinese immigration act of 1923 was repealed and Chinese residents of Canada who were not already Canadian citizens could apply for naturalization.

Respect the bilingual and multicultural character of Canada. (Immigration and refugee protection act)

Mark: B. Because in the case of the boat people they did not let them in directly into the country because of their culture. But in most cases they do respect language and culture. In the case of the Great Britain immigrating is always easier for them because Canada’s government wants them. They want them for there similarity in culture and language.

Save lives and offer protection to people who are displaced and persecuted. (Immigration and refugee protection act)

Mark: C. The Canadian government would have earned a C because of the limited people allowed in to the country when World war two started and the Jewish people were forced to abandon their homes because of the threat of the Nazi parties. The people of Sri Lanka peoples came to Canada for protection from the war, with no relations to Canada, Canada still took in the refugees but put them into isolation until they found their identity. In ww2 when the Japanese bombed pearl harbor the Japanese were taken and put into a special camp because they thought all Japanese were planning to bomb and they were discriminated against, that shows that Canada has failed in the past to protect and save the lives of immigrants.

Theme: I think the theme of this book is you can’t run away from your problems, they will only get bigger and worse.

Quote 2: “O-o-o-o number two Pooh Bah was there with number one Pooh Bah?” I put this quote with a face of shock and envy because I think Scratch envied Dani for getting so much attention from Dr.

Personal statement: “When the light bulb turns on, so does the whole house.”

Personal statement “Focus can not be broken if you are truly focused.”

Personal statement “You don’t know what will come out of the game we call life.”

The B.L.A.S.T. program stands for Building Leadership for Action in Schools Today. Blast was revamped version of the D.A.R.E. program from grade 6. Even though it was like the dare program it was way better and I learned more in those 2-3hours then I did in 3 days from dare. Jack did how to show you the tobacco companies are tricking you to buy and or use their products. When he showed use the can of tobacco chew and on the sticker it said “warning not a save alternative to smoking” we didn’t think much about it since it was mandatory. Then he showed us what happened when you open up the can, then it suddenly says “a safe alternative to smoking” because the top of the sticker has been is aligned from the bottom portion. Some other things he showed use like the magazine and how hey but 2 pages so when you fold one page over just to read it the colours of a cigarette show on the folded over portion. When he showed us some of the gum sticks that have wrapper that look like a cigarette and you have to get it off to chew the gum! The only thing I think is a fluke the gum wrapper opening how it’s like a cigarette I think that’s farfetched. The thing I found the most useful was when one of the ladies pulled out some of the chemicals that go into cigarettes so they burn better or mask the taste of other chemicals that were put in.

Summarizing Blog

Can I summarize this character in a nutshell?…. I don’t think you can really describe Dani in short and still get her full figure and mindset. Throughout the whole book except the start I did not think that Dani should have been put through all the care that she was made to go through. To me it looked like they were trying to keep here there as long as possible.

A central idea running through this book is…. The Riverwood center is an intimidating place. I think it is more ran like a prison that a help center. How they have very strict schedules is an intimidation factor to get all the kids to behave and have no problems in their big and little group discussion.

The book has this title because……. The book is called ‘The Game” because Dani and her little sister used to a game called “The Game” at home. The game was, in a nutshell, a imagination land that she took very seriously. The objective of the game was to save the goddess but they kept adding new challenges every time they would get close to keep the game going and to escape real life. Dani played the game so much that it started to affect her personal life inside the institution. Almost all of her therapy sessions were about the game and trying to end it.i think it is called the game because she is trapped between the world of her and Kelly’s game and the game of life.

						The Game
By Teresa Toten
The author did something unexpected when…….. Dani was taken from her original holding cell that she was in at the start and but here in a bigger one with roommate , Scratch. The author doesn’t say how long Scratch had been in the river wood institution for troubled kids. Scratch comes off as the pro on how to get out of there the fastest you possibly can.

I had changed my mind when I realized…….. When Scratch said “O-o-o-o Number Two Pooh Bah was there with Number On Pooh Bah?’’ This told me that they thought Dani was a very special case. This also showed me that they thought Dani had been in more trauma than the author first told you about.

I changed my opinion when…….. Dani was in the office of Dr. Thurber and she was not talking. When she just sat there and he was talking to her. At the very end of her session she just said ‘’thank you’’ and walked away.
