I realized I didn’t understand… How did Max, Gabi’s cousin got to his auntie‘s house while his house is so far away from their house but then I kept reading and understood that “ Max had walked alone from his home town in eastern Czechoslovakia to his auntie’s home. It was a dangerous journey of more than 10 kilometers through the forest between his home and theirs, over several large hills and across roads that were patrolled by soldiers” I was glad that he made it to their home safely.

“If it weren’t for you, Aunt Judith, where would I be right now? You are the only family I have” … I thought that quote was very emotional because Max’s parents have passed away and he doesn’t have anyone left expect for Gabi and Aunt Judith. He tried to think positive.

I thought I missed something when… when Father Lensky gave Gabi and Max the instruction to walk to the Kos family because it is too dangerous for the three of them, Gaby, Max and mama to arriving at Mr. Kos’s house once it would create too much of an attention. So Gaby and Max have to walk by themselves. There were too many instruction I couldn’t understand clearly “walk quickly, but don’t run. Act naturally. Look straight ahead, as though you know where you are going. Many of the village houses are the same, so pay close attention. They live in the fourth last house from the end of the road, on the left side. It is a small white house with a red fence gate count the house silently and make sure you have the right one. There will be a red scarf on the gate, talk to no one. Try to be invisible. Keep your heads down.” I couldn’t understand at first so I went back and reread again and it makes more sense. But for two little kids to remember and there is a big possibility that they might get lost, but thank fully they didn’t.

“It’s terrible that you must hind in the barn with animals, but we think it will be safe”… In my opinion I think that it’s unfair that they are trying to hind not to get killed, even though they are completely innocent. Just because they are Jews doesn’t mean that they all should get kill and the way the Nazi are treated the Jews like that; they don’t deserve to get treated like they are they are just trash.

I asked myself questions about… what will happened next if Gabi, Max and Eva got caught while watching the Nazi guard and the prisoner fight. “And then suddenly a single gunshot rang out in the forest. The young partisan soldier slumped to the ground at the feet of the Nazi guard”. And that’s when I started asking myself Questions like will they escape without letting the Nazi know that they saw what happen? What if the Nazi guard saw them running a way? Will the guard kill them too or keep them as prisoners? How worried would mama and Mr. Kos family be?

“Get his body out of here and get back to work!”… I think that this quote pretty much sum everything tell me it all about how the Jews people get treated and how the Nazi respect other.
