Invisible hand

Invisible hand

Invisible hand is all about how the owner runs their business by increasing or decreasing their product’s prices catch the consumer’s attention.

Invisible hand works well with two businesses competing against each other to get their profits and their customers. But in order for one business to gain more profits then the other, which business has to have the quality that the consumers demand or the right price that the consumers willing to pay for their demand. It’s up to the consumers choices.

For example of the invisible hand would be, two gas station competing against each other by increase/decrease the price of their gas per liter to change the buyer’s mind and give the consumer special like “For every $0.50 per litter, you will get a free cup of coffee”

The “monopoly” comes in play when ONLY one business is in the area, and consumes need those demand on their basis. So they will pay for whatever the product cost. In this case the supplier can increase the price to whatever they wish because they know that they don’t have to compete with other business.

Election Speech

On this issue of a balance budget, Hal Tagg, the candidate for Wild Rose Party led by Danielle Smith is the best choice for the Stony Plain riding.

I believe that balancing the budget and saving is the top priority, I believe that it’s time to get serious about controlling our spending and saving money for Albertan’s future. Over the next 20 years, the Wild Rose Party can see Alberta’s heritage fund growing to about 200 billion dollars for our next generations to rely on. This is all achievable without raising taxes, personal or business, but through proper spending. I believe that they are the only party to eliminate the deficit, giving us a balance budget.

Every day, families make difficult spending decisions and save money for their future. This means, sometimes families have to wait for unnecessary items until they can afford them. These are some qualities that a responsible government needs to have.

The Progressive Conservative is weaker on this issue, because they have run a deficit for the past 3 years. They believe raising taxes to eliminate the deficit is the best solution. The New Democratic, The Evergreen and The Alberta Liberal parties believe that large businesses specifically oil companies should pay more taxes in order for the Alberta`s income to increase. This will slowdown the economy and will reduce the amount of job opportunities available.

Alberta is the richest province in Canada, so running a deficit is unacceptable, it is time to change for the better, vote for Wild Rose.

New Land

Dear Family,

Hello mother and father, I am doing well at this new place. Do not have to worry about me. It have been two years since I left you all to find a better future and I did, at first was a huge struggle for my partner and I to find food and shelter because all there is was land of grass, but we manage to work with grass and trade them for something else in a different community, now we are doing well, we have all the things we need it.

When the ship arrived at this new land, I saw hope, a good future and a safe place to be living in. The government assigned us to the land where everyone supposed to be living in, I thought that this would be a new start for me, I thought everybody on the ship supposed to be living together and build a community… then start from there on. I was wrong, when I heard my name called, I got so excited, and you can’t describe the feeling. I was told to live with these three unemployed people like me. I was nervous because I’ve never live with strangers, I got to know them better and found out that they came here the same season as me… a better future…

I didn’t know what to do when I saw where I’m supposed to live. The land wasn’t what I expected. The government gave us land that is ten kilometers by ten kilometers, which is pretty huge for the four of us, including me to be living in for the next two years. The land that was filled with different type of grass and wheat, and clean water stream river flowing through our land, it was a relieve for me. Theirs is a small amount of sad in the middle of the river, which my partners and I used to build shelter, furniture, pots and pan. At first I didn’t know what to do with the long grass… but thank goodness mother, you taught me how to weave, so I used my weaving skill to build us fishing nets to catch fishes. At one point my partner and I, we decided to trade our grass and fishes for a cow, spruce tree and apple tree, I thought it was a very good deal for us. If I have to describe the economic 2 years ago, it would be a mess. Everybody was confused; don’t know what to do at that point.

Today, we are living healthy and we do not have to struggle for food or shelter like 2 years ago, I thought I picked the right decision for me and my future, for now. If I have to look at our past I think we did a really enormous improvement on the land that was given to us. I have never thought we would be able to live with land full of grass and very little meat for us, I didn’t think we would’ve survive but we did.

Today Queen Marry Collen came to check on our progress on our land, then she made an announcement that she needs soldiers, food and weapons to go to war because the Tchikchikua and  was going to attack us… so many other pioneers offer her many different kind of weapons, food and many soldiers.

My group decided to offer her some wheat and a soldier, because we believe that it’s important to have many soldiers so that when the first nation and the Tchikchikua attack we will be prepared for the war.

I am not joining the war, because I don’t have the skills to become a soldier, but I will on my land serving wheat with my girl partner.

Love always,

New Thomas

This year I have discovered that I work better by myself, rather than working with a group of people because I get distracted very easily and in a group of people and I like to work at my own paste.

Another thing I learn this year is that I am a visual learner and I work better when I can see the big picture, instead of imaginary in my head. Graphic such as maps, pictures and videos help me both visually and verbally. I am better comprehending new ideas when they are connected to previous information. My friends and family have notice that whenever I tried to memorize something, I will close my eyes and picture that piece of information.

Kony 2012

KONY 2010

This is a background about: Joseph Kony

Joseph Kony is in the top spot on the most wanted list of the International Criminal Court. The history of Joseph Kony and “the Lord’s Resistance Army” is a really harsh story to listen to. He kidnaps boys to become child soldier, and he kidnaps girls for sexual slavery, and often offered as sexual gifts to his senior army for a job well done and he also force children to kill their own parents. He has abducted at least 66,000 children, forcing them to join the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army).

Before this video was showed I have no clue what’s going on the other side of the globe, but now I truly believe that we should do something about this because it’s just hard to hear all of these news and social media about children like us have to go through. This situation is breaking my heart. That man is evil.

I think this event is important because if we accomplish this event, we can prove the world that as a team anything is possible, even if they say it’s impossible. It’s horrible to hear that something bad happened for over twice the age I am, and we don’t know what is going on in the world or anything about it for so long until this video is created and shared. The saddest part is that Joseph Kony is still a free man… AND WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING… because he do not deserve to get away with this..

Verbal-Visual Essay

Verbal/visual essay

The Night Spies by Kathy Kacer

Presented by: New Thomas

Jew is a short term for Judaism, is one of many varieties of religions around the globe. It is not a word that people should be disrespectful to or think that they are awful, dangerous group of people, and people should not get picked on because of their religion. My theme for this book is that no matter what you are, you have the right to be treated the same as other.

Quote 1: “We’ve packed you bundles of hey to build your hiding place. You won’t be able to stand up in there but you, but there is space to stretch out and sleep” said Mr.Kos (page 36).

Quote 2: “… my dear Judith, I won’t be able to write to you again. This will probably be the last time. So many others have been sent on vacation, my mother, father and brother, along with the others. We’ll probably be joining them…” (page62)

Quote 3: “Don’t you see, Gabi? Magda’s mother, father and brother are all dead! They died several years ago. Magda is telling me she is being sent away to die as well! That’s what this letter is about. It is a warning that she and all the other Jews were arrested and sent away by trains will probably be killed.” Mama’s voice broke again and she fell silent (page 62).

Quote 4: “Isn’t it great to be free outside the gate? Stop worrying no one’s going to see” (page 67-68)

Quote 5: “I know, but I must have been mad to do this.  No one- not one of the neighbors- would risk their lives like this. People around here would turn them and feed them and put ourselves in all kind of danger.” (page 83)

Quote 6: “And now, my young soldiers, you need to leave,” said Vladimir, as he stood and glanced up at the sky. (Page 103)

Quote 7: “Yes, Mama. It feels like we`re doing something to help, instead of just sitting around, hiding and waiting. Please say you`ll let us go.” Gabi pleaded with her mother

Quote 8: “We`ll you and your partisan thugs haven`t stopped us have you Now you’re working for Hitler and I`m telling you to work faster!”

Quote 9: “we must do something,” he said, raising his voice. “We will not stand by and let our comrades be killed.”

Quote 10: Finally, Mama pulled away and looked at the children. “I saw everything,” She gasped. “I felt so helpless, watching from the barn. I saw the Nazis approaching and watch them surround you with their guns pointed at your heads. I wanted to run outside and throw myself in front of those guns. Oh my darlings, if anything had happened to you, I don’t know what I would have done.” (page 161-162)

Explanation why I picked those quotes:

“We’ve packed you bundles of hey to build your hiding place. You won’t be able to stand up in there but you, but there is space to stretch out and sleep” said Mr.Kos (page 36). People hind because they are in some sort of problem and don’t want to face it. Not when you are when you hiding for something that you didn’t make. It’s wrong knowing that these guiltless people are hiding from something they didn’t create. People that are innocent do not need/have to go through that kind of punishment; just because of their religion is Jew.

“Don’t you see, Gabi? Magda’s mother, father and brother are all dead! They died several years ago. Magda is telling me she is being sent away to die as well! That’s what this letter is about. It is a warning that she and all the other Jews were arrested and sent away by trains will probably be killed.” Mama’s voice broke again and she fell silent (page 62). I felt horrible when I read that paragraph. They are human beings, and should not get treated like they are not human being because the Nazis are bullying the Jews people base on their type, religion or whatever, even if the Jews didn’t do anything wrong, and they will get killed because worrying that people like them are watching over them; they have the right to feel protected and secured.

“Isn’t it great to be free outside the gate? Stop worrying no one’s going to see” (page 67-68) my thought was why anyone has to worry to go outside of their house gate? I mean they should be able to go outside of their house at all time, no concern of getting caught or killed.

“I know, but I must have been mad to do this.  No one- not one of the neighbors- would risk their lives like this. People around here would turn them and feed them and put ourselves in all kind of danger.” (Page 83) I understand that other didn’t want to get their lives on the line to save Jews because they don’t want to get killed. I thought that the Kos family was very big-hearted to put their lives in danger and help Gabi, Her mother and her little cousin.

“And now, my young soldiers, you need to leave,” said Vladimir, as he stood and glanced up at the sky. (Page 103) That quote made me thinks that Gabi and Max are very brave by helping the partisan to gather the information about the Nazis soldiers, so that the partisan could come up with the plan to attack the Nazis.

“Yes, Mama. It feels like we`re doing something to help, instead of just sitting around, hiding and waiting. Please say you`ll let us go.” Gabi pleaded with her mother… I thought to myself what’s on Gabi’s mind when she begged her mother to go out and help other… she’s putting her lives in danger! But on the other hand she wanted the war to end. “We`ll you and your partisan thugs haven`t stopped us have you Now you’re working for Hitler and I`m telling you to work faster!” to me the Nazis are selfish and mean because they don’t care about anyone but themselves.

“We must do something,” he said, raising his voice. “We will not stand by and let our comrades be killed.” In that one short quote I can picture team work, big-hearted, had enough with the war. Finally, Mama pulled away and looked at the children. “I saw everything,” She gasped. “I felt so helpless, watching from the barn. I saw the Nazis approaching and watch them surround you with their guns pointed at your heads. I wanted to run outside and throw myself in front of those guns. Oh my darlings, if anything had happened to you, I don’t know what I would have done.” (Page 161-162) That is probably one of my favorite quotes because it has both of drama and action in one quote. It has that love feeling that mother is worrying about her children and what would she do without them…
