On Wednesday, we had our first school council meeting of the year. It was great to get to know everyone in attendance a little better. There was some great discussion about a number of different topics including fundraising, learning, and community engagement. One of the things we are hoping to offer at school council in the future is parent learning opportunities. We hope to explore topics that are meaningful and relevant to helping you engage in your children’s learning. To do that we are hoping to get your feedback. Let us know what you would be interested in by completing the Potential Parent Learning Opportunities Survey and giving us your ideas. We will collect the ideas and share in the near future to see what is of most interest. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

In it are a couple of interesting videos and some information regarding my core values as a leader, among a couple of other things. One of our most popular fundraisers is back! Starting September 12th forms will be sent home for Little Caesars Pizza kits and cookie dough! We heard your feedback from previous orders and will be ordering twice this year to help out with the problems of storing multiples of the large kits. Our second order will not be until the end of March so be sure to order enough to last you until then! Your forms and money will need to be returned to the school by Monday September 29th, 2014. The orders will then be placed and delivered to the school October 16th, 2014 and will be ready for pick up from the school at 1:30 till 6:00. The school receives a kick back of $5.00 off of every kit we sell which will be used to upgrade and purchase more technology for the students. We need your help and support to make this the best fundraiser yet!
I know this may seem early… but hey, we woke up to a blanket of snow this morning so we took it as a sign to start planning our Christmas Celebration this year… after all September 8 is a reasonable time for our first snowfall of the year. 😉
We would love parent feedback about what you would like to see for this year’s Christmas Celebration. The two options are as follows:
Christmas Concert – It would either be on a Monday night at Horizon Stage or hosted here at the school over two nights. For example, the younger grades concert would be one night and the older grades would be the next night just so we can fit in the gym.
Family Fun Night – This would consist of a variety of activities that the whole family could participate in together. Some possible examples of these activities would be Gingerbread House decorating, horse sleigh ride, crafts etc.
