Parkland School Division is hosting the 2nd Annual Try-Me TryAthlon on Friday, June 10th.
If you’re 6-18 years old, love swimming, bicycling and running and want to try something new, sign up to give our Try-Athlon a try!
The Try-Me Try-Athlon is a Kids of Steel (KOS) triathlon, which will be held on Friday, June 10 at the Tri-Leisure Centre in Spruce Grove. KOS Triathlons are designed to offer youth the opportunity to experience the sport of triathlon in a positive environment. The distances are much shorter than those in adult triathlons and change as participants mature.
This event is a district-wide celebration of physical literacy and movement in 2016 using these three skills: swimming, bicycling and running. All children ages 6 and up are welcome to register for this event with the support of their classroom or school-based teacher. The Try-Athlon will encourage students to train with their schools and at home in order to learn new physical skills and movements that will allow them to feel more competent and confident in multiple environments. All this for a small $30 registration fee.
Today we are going to talk about Friday Dance day. It’s a time when you get to spend time with the entire school. Grade 4s can dance with grades grade 2s, grade 1s and kindergarteners. It’s a fun way to start school on a Friday morning. It gets our blood pumping in the morning, increases our health and wakes up our brains. What it`s really meant for is to help us start our day. This is a video I made about Parkland Village School’s Friday Dance Days.
