The grade fives were successful in achieving their reading goal for the month of October. Each student read a minimum of 500 minutes and it paid off. We will be going to an Oil Kings game on Tuesday, November 25th. We have space for four volunteers to assist in supervising. Please send an e-mail or phone the school if you would be interested in attending the game.

Our Atlantic region visual presentations are completed. Students learned how to create an attractive Powerpoint presentation, how to research on the internet, organizational skills and how to give an interesting oral presentation. They know how Canada came to be explored, settled and why people lived in the Atlantic region. We discussed how cultures were united and sometimes clashed during the settlement of the Atlantic region. We will now study what  life is like in the Atlantic region of Canada today.   ~ Beautiful Warning ~

The students have all written a myth, fable and a nightmare story this month.  We have some budding writers in our class. We will be starting a novel study next week. We continue to read, journal and write every day. We have been focusing on writing conversations and how to correctly punctuate them. We will be learning about the correct use of commas, colons and semi-colons next week.

The grade fives are planning a Halloween dance from 1:30-2:35 on Friday. Many parents have donated treats for this event, please don’t send anymore! Thanks in advance to those who are planning to bring Halloween treats. All students will wait until the lunch break before they put on their costumes. We will then have a parade, eat and PARRRTTTTY! The dance will be held in the classroom, thanks to Izabella for planning all of the music. We plan on having a spooktacular time.  Some students have expressed a desire to carve pumpkins on Friday morning. If your child wishes to participate please send a pumpkin, squash, cucumber, apple or what- have- you. This is not a requirement. Please remember that all costumes need to be appropriate, and no weapons are allowed.  Parents areHelloween!!! :))) welcome to visit during the afternoon. We hope to see you there.
