1.Dorito-house rules  2 propagandas used : plain folk appeal & Glittering Generalities

The product is Doritos chips,I like the ad because its funny. The target audience is young adult to adults probably mostly football watchers because it was made for the super bowl. The characters are black and there are females and males and seem middle class. The colours used are alot of happy colours like like blue(wise) orange(appetite stimulant) and brown(strong).

The image is life is relaxed, there saying that if you eat doritos you will have control in your life.It shows strength and that if you eat doritos you will have free time. You will be able to protect the people you love.

This ad will influence customers to buy doritos because it combines strength and comedy together.Another thing they use is a kid to speask to the yoiunger kids too. This commercial ends with a big finish advertising the product.

The media shape societies actions and acceptance of idea. They tell us what is right and not what to wear and what in and whats out.

Garbage Can-furious

Everyday! everyday they mistreat me,throwing the wrong thing in me and treating me like trash.Theses children are careless if they hurt me with recycling and Im sick of it.If they do this to me and i have no ideal what I am,I am a garbage can.Im no recycling bin no sink and definitely not something to sit on. I’m a garbage can with a plan a self satisfying plan and after that i well be treated right and with respect. So I made this plan an amazing plan where theses monsters wont treat me like they been for years. This plan consists of pure evil but I wasn’t evil before they created me this way.Next time I receive something disgusting like half full juice box or glass bottle Bamm! It will come right back at them and I will laugh and laugh because that’s what they deserve.Theses children aren’t dumb they know where garbage and recycling goes so you better watch out because maybe next time it will be you.

Invisible Hand

An invisible hand is not planned but happens on its own and creates our economy.in a planned economy there is no invisible hand because the government controls the price of things. In a mixed economy like Canada there are government owned places and individual owned places. There is a great deal of competition for the best price and that’s what the invisible hand.

You see consumers look for the cheapest most convenient and quality to buy from. So suppliers fight to be the best in all three and make the most profit. Suppliers most also consider the cost and income to avoid going in debt so they make the price low but not so low that they don’t make a profit. Competition controls there income, for example if there was two candy stores and one was cheaper would you go to the cheaper one. There are also things to consider like type of candy and how convenient. If the cheaper candy store was 20 minute drive away and the more expensive right down the block of your house who would you go to?

New Land-letter to family

Dear Family,

I’m alive and well but 5 years ago when I came I was expecting a flourish of natural resources boy I was wrong. The land I received was lacking all that I was promised all we had was rock and soil a bit of river that’s it no trees or nothing and I was with strangers. It was a struggle for survival the people I was with had skills but we couldn’t use them with nothing. We started by living in an opening in the rock all I had to eat for 2 months was dirt water and a few bunnies I shoot with my bow and arrow it was tough.

At the point of giving up I received great news. Another pioneer group with abundance of natural resources wanted help building cabins and needed help. They said I could work there and they would provide me with food shelter and clothing of course I said yes because I was on the verge of starvation. I knew the terms and conditions if I want free land and live in this new land I had to be there at least one month a year and the pioneers said that was ok.

your probably thinking what about the other people I lived with for that 2 months well they were flourishing when I came back 11 months later expecting to find 2 skeletons and the same old rock I found a lot more. I gave them my seeds and all and made a huge fruit and vegetables and a Mott, outhouse, cabin and planted those trees. They welcomed me with warming arms and I even had my own room in the cabin. I came when the fruit were ripe and ready for picking and that summer month I fished work on the mine and discover diamonds gold and metals in the rock and traded for furs milk and grains I almost didn’t want to leave but had too and making alliances were good in case the garden and water ever came out they would help me and my new friends.

Really I’m surviving much better know that I’m out of Greece. I have made lots of friends too and maybe one day when they stop building the cabins with the other settlers I will live in my land all year around because at first it was nothing but we really made a nice place and maybe one day you guys can visits or even come to stay. I miss you guys a lot and hopefully see you soon

2 years have passed and the queen comes back for resources like food, weapons and soldiers.my group offered abundance of weapons we made from our mine, turnips from our vegetable garden and a strong soldier named Daniel. Daniel couldn’t make it to the audience so the queen said we can keep the land for now and isn’t granted it until she seen Daniel. We were a little disappointed but didn’t dare arguing with the queen in fear of death. Now Chikchikwa is at war with the first nations and we believe they have a strong army and have to be prepared. Our group has a strong bond with other settlers with rich land and has been granted more land for being so generous with the queen.

I hope I don’t get sent as a soldier because I can provide much more than being a soldier I have hunting farming and sewing ability’s that would go to waste if I was to be chosen to be a soldier. I live on the other settlers land for 11 months a year and even have a house of my own and they are greatly protected from danger and we have built a wall of protection. I feel safe there and believe we won’t be attacked soon this will be over and I will have permanent land of my own. I will than send my family here and build houses for them and we will finally be rich and our children and grandchildren can live peacefully.

Sincerely, Angelina

What I learned this year is to organize my time nicely between school dance and friends, I always do my homework and on time. I make myself very organize and stay on a routine by doing my homework after dinner before I go on the computer. I also practice dance routines on the weekend because I too busy during the week and try to write down my dance routine on paper so I remember it. I have dance on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday so it’s balanced pretty well that Monday and Friday I have break from dance and can relax. I also make sure I get a healthy amount of sleep I am on a routine where I go to bed at 10 and wake up at 7.

Another thing I learned is to write a sentence properly and grammar in my writing, beginning of this year I wrote a lot of fragments and run on sentence and my spelling was terrible. With the help of Ms Rogers I improved a lot and the content and quality of my writing has increased.

I learned that I’m a hand’s on learner but also a visual learner, I like to highlight important information to study but also like to physically answer questions for studying. If someone shows me a new dance move I like to physically do that than to just listen and suddenly know how to do it. Sometimes it takes time for me to perfect someone but once I do it stays and it wouldn’t be hard anymore. Sometimes people like to categorize you as just one type of learner but I’m different in everything I do.

This year I experimented with a lot of studying skills I tried reading the text book highlighting important information notes and making question for myself. I found the best tactics to use is highlighted notes and questions and I’m going to bring this into high school to succeed.

Kony 2012

Kony 2012

I heard a lot about Kony 2012 but didn’t really know what it was about .Whoever this Kony guy was people really hated him.I was curious about this 30 minute video on youtube that people said will make you really want to make a change.Assuming it was something about poverty in Africa like those commercials on tv saying $1 a day will give a child basic needs.Whatever this video i thought it would be something I already heard many times and people who say its sad but rarely make a change. After watching this video I know now this is something few people knew about but now everyone does and we are gonna make a difference.

Kony 2012 is about a guy named Joesph Kony a very bad man ,and the world is after him.He is the number one crimminal in the world!what he did he defintely deserve the world wanting him dead. For 26 years he has been kidnapping African children, taking girl and using them as sex slaves and turning the boys into child soldier forcing them to kill there parents.Kony has been doing this without bringing put to justice and taken 35,000 children.Children are living in fear of being kidnapped and are in danger. The whole point of sharing the video is to show the governement that we care keeping the american soldiers searching for him.But Kony heard of this and changed his tactics and the goal is to find him by december 30 2012.

To help this cause you can do something as small as sharing the video and spreading the news.other things is to donate money to the cause buy the action pack filled with posters, bracets and stickers to pin up to show your support towards the cause.I was surprised that it was the tenagers that want to make the change and is motivated to catch this guy and I think if we will catch him it will bring safety to the children of africa also will show that anyone can make a change.

Visual Essay

Taylor’s Visual Essay

Theme:

In I am a taxi the theme is Deigo to prove hes not a crimminal.

He wants to be treated equal and to live his old life people accuse him a thief because his parent are in prison and all throughout the book he wants to prove hes different.

“he could buy 2 days worth of fruit and bread, but he was nt gonna get tempteed  keep it not for a minute. For half a day he would be rich than poorr forever after that”page 26

In a place like Bolivia  theres a gap between rich and poor what he meant “by rich for half a day and poor forever after that “ is he would spend the money but that wont escape the poverty and situation he’s in. I  thought it was very mature of him to give back the money even after doing the job .

“you are a honest boy?”

“I am a taxi “diego said

“I am a good buissness man,and being honest is good buissness”page 36

I think Diego is a misunderstood kid because he is a prison kid.

“he asked for a written note for the price,he never wanted anyone to question his honesty.cheating was bad,bad buissness”page 41

As a taxi boy people were hesitate at first but once they  his honesty they trusted him  Diego was very loyal to his customers

“your after my money arent you boy”rock said

“I don’t want your money “ diego stressed, keeping his voice calm “I want my money”page 150

Diego was in a very scary place being token advantage and lied to, if I was in his position I would be very scared and wouldn’t have the guts to say anything. i imagined rock as a big guy with scars and probely in his 30s.

“come on Diego I heard of this stuff it gives you a strength of ten men”

Diego looked at the cigarette in his hand

“smoking not good for you” page 118

Diego at this point in the book was been lied and put into danger but he still stayed strong to his believes.

Thesis paragraph

Some people might think Diego a criminal and they have facts to back it up.

Diego was a good buisness man he had loyal customers fpr being a prison kid he was very well behaved.he was always honest and he even did homework for the rich kids at his school. For his regular customers he would even do a taxi job for free just to show how honest he is.Diego was a wise boy for 13 he had a mind of a buisness man and was very smart. He changed though once he got to the jungle he kept some of his beliefs but started some bad stuff like smoking. He was working for the bad guys the drug dealers. In the end he decided to steal from the drug dealers and leave I would consider that bad but he was stealing but I don’t believe hes a criminal.

How I choose the quotes was I looked through the book and found the places where he was portayed to other other as a bad kid.Nobody really would trust a prison kid.Rock didn’t trust him called him smart boy Rock knew that and was almost a threat to him.Rock thought he was just gonna pick up some messed up prison boy to do his work but instead got a kid that could ruin his buisness and get away with it.

The pictures I choose all repreasent something from the book.the background for my powerpoint is a mountion that what I thought looked like the jungle type area Diego was in.I also have another picture of a kid in prison that repreasents Diego as a prison kid always wanted out to his old life.Theres a picture of a kid with Bolivia flag painted on his face that represents Diego love for his very poor country and wanting to rule it some day.The handcuffs repreasent being isolated from world outside the prison Diego broke thoughs handcuffs the minute he went to work for Rock.Fruit bowl represents the amount of food his family would eat in like a week .In the picture shopowing the one bolivano is about one cent canadian and that’s what he gets for doing a taxi job.

French Essay

In this essay I’m not just going to compare the 2 Canadian lifestyles and culture ,Alberta and Quebec, but also what’s the same about them .Imagine being isolated in such a way that you don’t even have a doctor some places in Quebec that reality .We are lucky in Stony Plain that we have more than we need. Many people in Canada don’t know that some people are so isolated that they health is at risk being hours away from a basic doctor.

In Quebec there language major is French and minor English, in Quebec the weather on the coast seem very rainy and wet. It’s pretty isolated and like a peaceful place to live in.

In Alberta major is English, its dry and cold in the winter hot in the summer. We eat variety of food but since we’re not on the coast we don’t catch fish.instead we farm and get fish but not fresh.

Similarities of Quebec and Alberta even though they don’t speak the same language but their words that are spelt the same. They have things like mayors, houses, churches, pubs and restaurants in both provinces. They enjoy similar things like hockey and social drinking.

Differences are between Quebec and Alberta are that in isolated places Quebec has no jobs and Alberta full of industries like oil sands and such while Quebec dependent on fishing if there suddenly no fish a lot of people are out of a job.Theres a variety of religions in Alberta while in Québec there’s mostly catholic churches. If you lived on an island in Québec you would have to travel by boat and there would be less traffic but Alberta you can travel by car, plane or train. In Québec they speak very fast and compared to them Albertans speak very slowly.

In conclusion I believe that we are very lucky to live in city where we have more than we need. Also that both places have their pros and cons but the more dependable place would be urban Alberta.
