Wow, it’s Friday already! Another week has flown by!
Our first month has been wonderful. 2A has settled into their routine and have been learning lots!
Here are some pictures from our week.
Magnets have been the focus this month in science. Students have learned lots! In these pictures, students are discovering that magnetic force can go through plastic and water. Inside the bottles of water were some paperclips. As a group, they had to figure out a way to get the paper clips out of the bottle without getting their hands wet. They were given block magnets and 30 seconds to complete the task. They did very well! Lots of fun, and NO SPILLED BOTTLES! YAY!
This month, we have been reading lots of Henry and Mudge books. This week, students learned how to “retell” a story. We read Henry and Mudge and the Snowman Plan, then spent some time retelling the story in our own words.
After re-telling the story out loud, students had to re-tell the story through writing. Here are their finished projects.
This week, students started a very special writing project. First, we watched a video of a book called “The Best Part of Me.” The book was written by children describing their favorite part of themselves.
On Wednesday, students decided what they wanted to write about and made a list of reasons why they liked a certain part of themselves. Yesterday, students began writing their paragraphs. During guided reading, I have been working with small groups of students to edit/finish/add more detail to their writing. I LOVE what they have come up with and CANNOT wait for their finished products. We should have them finished next week.

Important Dates/InformationThere will be a very important science note coming home today as well. It has information about a Magnet Project that students will complete at home and bring to school on Tuesday, October 13.
That’s all for now! Have a great day!
