Book Fair Volunteers Needed

Feelin Groovy

Book Fair is coming!  We will be setting up on Monday February 1st in the morning and it will run through until 12:30 p.m. Wednesday February 3rd at which time we will take down the displays. You can even visit the Fair during the Parent/Teacher Interviews which will take place on the 1st & 2nd.

Many of you have faithfully volunteered for this event and we have appreciated you so very much.  We need volunteers to help once again.  If you can help students choose books, handle the cash desk, or supervise during class visits, please let us know. Anything you choose to do would be appreciated.

If you are able to help, please complete the form that is linked HERE and return it to your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible.  Without your support we would not be able to have this event – we require approximately 10-12 people to run for the three days.

We look forward to working with you to make our book fair an exciting reading event for everyone!

Rafiki Fundraiser for Free the Children

Did you know that rafiki means “friend”? Well you can now buy some friendship bracelets at our school. The We Care team is selling rafiki bracelets to raise money for the Free the Children Foundation. The women who make these rafiki bracelets are the Kenyan Mamas, they do this to get money to support themselves and their families(sustainable income). 50% of the money is given to the kenyan mamas who make them and their family, and the other 50% goes to Free the Children Foundation. Free the children then uses that portion of the funds to provide food, education, water, sustainable income projects and health care to children in many countries around the world. Each Rafiki Bracelet will only cost 10$ and will be sold at the Muir Lake School Book Fair on February 1st to February 3rd. The more bracelets sold, the more money is donated. These are truly cool bracelets.

Formal Day Volunteers

Formal Day is just around the corner.  We will be holding this annual event on Friday February 12th.  Muir Lake Leadership is hard at work planning and creating.  We would like to ask if there are any parent volunteers who would be willing to help cook the meal on the morning of the 12th.

We are currently, planning and budgeting for a meal, but would also like the input of the volunteering parents.

If you are interested in helping out, please email Mrs. Arnold (karnold@psd70.ab.ca).  We will be sending out emails regarding menu, times etc once we have the group organized.

Muir Lake is so lucky to have such wonderful volunteers.  Without our community of parents, we wouldn’t have such great events and opportunities for all our students.

Thank you for all you do!!
