It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Garley’s husband, John. As you may have heard, John Garley was one of the victims of the avalanche in McBride, B.C. on Friday, January 29th, 2016.

Thank you to those of you who have come to the school or phoned in with gestures of kindness and support.  We are sure Mrs. Garley and her family will be comforted by your kind words. We are blessed to work in such a caring school community.

Many of our students coming into the school today were aware of this very sad news and have been supported by staff and each other.  We are aware that students process loss in different ways and we would encourage you to talk and listen to your children to assist them in understanding this loss.

Condolences on behalf of the Muir Lake School have been sent to the family.  They have been assured that our thoughts and prayers are with them now and in the coming days and weeks.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up for anyone wishing to support the Garley family at

If families desire to send condolences they may use Mrs. Garley’s email address:  Any cards brought in to the office will be delivered to the family.
