Missing Handbell

handbell

Unfortunately one of our Handbells from our grade 6 Handbell Choir has disappeared after the performance this afternoon – if anyone knows the whereabouts of it or has found it please bring it in to the school. It has a black plastic handle and is one of the smaller ones that is labeled ” A“. Mrs. Gottenbos needs to have it back for the Christmas Concert tonight.

Thank you

Opportunity for MLS Artists

Mindful Living Magazine has approached MLS and offered an exciting opportunity for some artists within our school. They have requested a selection of students’ art that may be selected to be used in their magazine over the next few months. Students’ names will not appear on the art and pictures will be randomly selected by the magazine. Currently, there are several beautiful snowmen and winter pictures around the school and we will just send a small selection to the magazine to choose from.

Mindful Living is a free publication that is available around Parkland County that focuses on mindful, health living.

If you have any objections of us possibly sending your child’s art to the magazine, please let us know by Friday, December 18 by either calling the school at 780-963-3535 or email us at muirlake@psd70.ab.ca. This opportunity may extend throughout the year to include artwork of healthy living etc.

Thank you,
L Wagner

However . . . . If we do not have a parent volunteer for each bus we cannot send the students skiing. The volunteers would be responsible for making sure that all registered students have boarded the bus at the school as well as on the return trip from the ski hill.  Also, getting and distributing the ski passes as well as being the parent emergency contact at the ski hill.

If you can help please contact Jana to discuss the discount that can be offered.

Kinsmen Hamper Deadline Extended

Drop Off Deadline Extended to Monday December 12!!

Again this year, our school is sponsoring families through the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain Christmas Hamper program.  This is the 38th year that the Hamper Program has helped those that are less fortunate in Stony Plain and Parkland County. Last year close to 450 families (over 1500 people) were supplied with food, toys and gift cards for much needed necessities. Each grade level in the school has been assigned a family. It is our hope that we will be able to make Christmas a happier time for these families through our community’s generosity. Suggested items to donate are non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, pasta, hot chocolate or hot cider mix, etc. or small gift items like children’s books or stuffed animals. Items donated should be new and unwrapped and need to be in to the school before Monday, December 12th.

Thank you for your part in making Christmas brighter for these families!2016-kinsmen-hampers

Formal Day 2017

The Muir Lake leadership option is currently planning our Formal Day.  We would like to put a call out to any parent volunteers who are willing to donate their time on the morning of February 14th (around 9-12:30).  Volunteers are needed to help prepare and plate the food for our dinner.

We really appreciate the extra help!  If you are able to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Arnold karnold@psd70.ab.ca
