Humboldt Broncos

Jersey Day – We are hosting Jersey Day on Thursday, April 12th to show support for the Humboldt Broncos team and the tragic accident that occurred this past weekend. There are many connections between our community and this team and it will hit close to home for many of our students and staff. Students, staff and community are asked to wear a Jersey on April 12th to show support for the city of Humboldt.  This is an opportunity for us to show support for the team and community as they move forward with the healing process. Here is a news article from Global News with more information about this initiative: https://globalnews.ca/news/4130525/humboldt-broncos-crash-hockey-jersey-day/

In honour of the young men of the Humboldt Broncos that lost their lives this past weekend our students have asked if we can help with the GoFundMe Page.  So, to help show our support in this tragic time, we will be hosting a Tooni-Drive through the next week or so. Please feel free to send in your cash donations to the school and mark them “Humboldt Broncos”. We will insure that it gets to the appropriate location; OR simply click on this link https://ca.gofundme.com/funds-for-humboldt-broncos to make your own donation.

Thank you for your support of our Hockey Community.

Tie Dye T-Shirt Fundraiser

Muir Lake School’s Student Leadership class has organized Tie Dye T-Shirts for many years; and will do so again this year.

Donate $10 to the Stollery’s Children Hospital Foundation and your child will get to tie dye a t-shirt.

All orders & donations must be handed into your child’s homeroom teacher by Wednesday February 7th and will help us reach our goal of raising $1200 this year! Every dollar counts!

Students will be dyeing their shirts the week of February 20-26.

To order a shirt simply fill out this form and hand it in along with the donation which can be made by cash or cheque payable to Parkland School Division #70 (PSD 70).

Thank you,

Muir Lake Leadership Team

Kinsmen Christmas Hampers Due This Friday

Just a reminder that the Kinsmen Christmas Hamper donations are due in to the classroom by this Friday December 8th. Check out our post from November 22nd . . .

Muir Lake Cares! And this has become very evident over the years.

Our school will be collecting donations once again and will be sponsoring families through the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain Christmas Hamper program. For many years The Kinsmen Hamper Program has helped those that are less fortunate in Stony Plain and Parkland County. Last year over 500 families, that’s over 1700 residents, were supplied with food, toys and gift cards for much needed necessities. Each grade level in the school has been assigned a family (see below for details on the families). It is our hope that we will be able to make Christmas a happier time for these families through our community’s generosity. Please click THIS LINK to see a list of suggested items from the Kinsmen Club of Stony Plain. Items donated should NOT be wrapped and should be in to the school before Friday, December 8th.

We thank you for your continued support of our communities.

Goodwill Donation Drive

Goodwill Industries of Alberta has teamed up with us to do a Goodwill Donation Drive.

On Monday June 26th and Tuesday June 27th there will be a Goodwill truck/trailer here at school. Please drop off your gently used items that you have collected while doing your spring cleaning. This can be done during regular school hours from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Donation bags are available in the school office or simply use a plastic bag from home.

Thank you for your support of Muir Lake School and Goodwill Alberta!
