Volunteers Needed

Wednesday, June 26th will be Muir Lake’s 2019 Fun Day! Fun Day celebrations will be from 11:55 am – 2:15 pm. The school will be providing a hotdog lunch. Please still pack your child a snack for the morning.

Students in kindergarten through grade 5 will move independently from station to station. Students in kindergarten through grade 2 will be encouraged to buddy up with a friend to go to stations. All stations will be outside, please come dressed and ready for any weather! Please send hats if it is sunny. We recommend applying sunscreen and bug spray before coming to school. If you send any, it must be lotion and not aerosol.

Students will be rotating around stations that teachers and parents have prepared. Students will have punch cards to show they have gone to stations. When their cards are full, they can turn them in to get a prize. Prize options are a freezie, bag of popcorn or a temporary glitter tattoo, based on how many stations they get to in the afternoon they may get some or all of these prizes.

To make this event a success and fun for all, we need your expertise! If you can volunteer, please complete our Google form (scan QR code or go to https://bit.ly/2HNJv5X) by Friday, June 14th.

Thank you in advance, without parent volunteers these fun school activities would not be possible!

We LOVE Music @ MLS

Don’t you just LOVE five year olds! They are so excited, enthusiastic and engaged in their learning. I was privileged to hang out with our Kindergarten students this morning during their Music class. It was their first experience with xylophones … WOW!!

This afternoon … Speed Control ROCKED the house with their Rags to Rock Showcase, which demonstrated the evolution of rock music from 1898 to the present. A fun-filled school-wide concert – YEH!

Kindergarten Open House

Muir Lake School was a buzz of activity last night! We were delighted to welcome Kindergarten students and parents. Students had fun with blocks, playdough, lego, puzzles, books etc.

Thank you to Mrs. Bursey and Mrs. Brownlee for hosting our evening. Thank you to Fallon and Kaylee for being such AMAZING helpers and tour guides!

We look forward to welcoming new students and families to Muir Lake School! We are excited to be partnering with you in your child’s education!

We would appreciate receiving your registrations as soon as possible. Thank you!

National “Fun at Work” Day !

I was driving to school this morning listening to the radio.  I heard the announcer say, “Today is National Fun at Work Day”.  I thought, YEH! I wonder what “FUN” things will happen at Muir Lake School today.

Well … I wasn’t disappointed … I had a BLAST this afternoon!

I was privileged to spend an hour or so with a group of grade 8 girls. It was so much FUN to just hang out with them, get to know them and learn from them.  Thank you Tia and Danica – you are GREAT teachers!

OCTOBER 31 was a BUZZ of activity at Muir Lake School …

Our K – 3 students were excited to attend a “Kids Carnival”, which was planned, organized and run by students in our Leadership Option and Students’ Council.  Mrs. Arnold and I are very proud of the excellent choice of activities, positive attitudes and enthusiasm displayed by the organizing students.  Thank you for your leadership. Way to go!

A special treat … Carmen and David arrived this morning with their “mini-donut” machine, and our kitchen quickly became a factory for “yummy” treats.  Thank you very much!

This afternoon was filled with a costume parade, celebrations, food, games, dance etc.

Many parents and guests were in our building today enjoying the festivities, helping with costumes, providing food etc. Thank you for partnering with us in building a strong sense of community at Muir Lake School!

It was indeed a FUN-filled day!

It was an AWESOME day at Muir Lake School !  It was VERY exciting to have students, staff and parents share a picnic lunch together and celebrate the beginning of the school year … together … as a community

Thank you … to our Grade Nine students, Mr. Mackay, Mrs. Arnold, Mrs. Buchan, Mrs. Goetrz and Mrs. Corbiere … who organized, prepared and served lunch to over 600 people.  It truly took a TEAM effort to pull this off!

THANK YOU HOJA … for the FUN-filled way to kick off the school year and meet everyone !!

Just a quick note to say a HUGE THANK YOU !!!  THANK YOU to the students and staff for participating in building “community” and “family” at Muir Lake School.

It was FANTASTIC to walk around and see the older kids and younger kids paired up together.  I saw smiling faces in EVERY room I walked into … and at every station outside …what AMAZING SYNERGIZE activities for our entire school community !!

At Muir Lake School … we are about providing opportunities … for each of the “7 Habits” … to be fostered …

This week … Habit 6 – SYNERGIZE in ACTION

… I value other people’s strengths and learn from them.  I get along well with others, even people who are different from me.  I work well in groups.  I seek out other people’s ideas to solve problems. I know that “two heads are better than one”.  I am a better person when I let other people into my life and work. (Leader in Me)

Get ready for a fun-filled year at Muir Lake School … with many opportunities to foster “community” and “leadership”.
