We would like to send out a great big thank you to all the parents that came out to help set up, take down, and chaperon the grade 9 camp out on Friday and Saturday. The kids weathered the elements and had a blast on the obstacle course, bouncy houses, playing man tracker, and watching a late night movie, all while eating loads of great food and snacks. A special thank you to Tina Hofer for organizing, Celena Coombs and her parents, Garth and Debbie Hatch, for planning and providing such a beautiful location for the event, and Jeff Wilson for providing the trailer and quad for transportation. It was a perfect way to finish off the grade nine year.
From the Gr 9 Farewell Committee . . . . . . .
Hello Parents/Guardians of Grade 9 Students:
In an effort to reduce overall out-of-pocket expenses associated with the Grade 9 farewell, an organized bottle drive will be scheduled in early Spring 2015. However, there has been feedback shared at the parent/student meeting for the Grade 9 farewell, that schedules of both students and parents, may prevent involvement on the specific date selected in the Spring.
As such, those who would still like to take an active role in reducing the costs associated with helping our children celebrate – dance/ceremony and camp out – can simply do so by going to either the Spruce Grove or Stony Plain bottle depot and donating the funds. An account has been set up with both depots — “Muir Lake School – Grade 9 Farewell”.
Cheers and may you all enjoy the New Year!
There will be a Grade 9 Farewell parent and student meeting on Monday, January 27 at 7 p.m. in the Muir Lake School Library. Discussion items include dates, times, their Activity Day as well as Fundraising. If you have a child in grade 9 this year at Muir Lake School, please plan to attend this important planning meeting. Students are also strongly encouraged to attend.
Memorial Composite High School will be hosting an evening event for “First-Time Parents” on Tuesday, March 6th at 7:00pm at Memorial Composite High School so that parents can become familiar with the school and have an opportunity to meet the school administration and counsellors. This evening is meant for parents seeing their first child through high school. Students are not to attend.
The “First Choice Open House” evening will be held at Memorial Composite High School on Thursday, March 8th starting at 7:00 pm. Open House will start with a welcoming address in the large gym. There will be an Advanced Placement English meeting from 6:30 – 7:00 pm on the same evening. We encourage all grade 9 students to attend this evening together with their parents in order to make their final course selections for high school.
