Hot Lunches at MLS

The Hot Lunch program that usually runs Wednesday and Thursday has wrapped up leaving us with just the Fundraising Lunches.

So what does this mean?

It means that IF you have ordered through the online lunch ordering system, lunches will only be served to the students on Mondays and Thursdays through the months of May & June. Please ensure that your children have lunches each day of the week.

With this being said, don’t forget to place your final June lunch order by the end of Thursday May 16th.

So what does this mean?

IMPORTANT Change to the Hot Lunch Program

Due to lack of volunteers with the hot lunch program, there are some changes that needed to be made to the number of days that lunch will be offered to the students.

  • Our Monday/Wednesday kindergarten class along with our grades 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9 students will have the opportunity to order for Wednesdays
  • The Tuesday/Thursday kindergarten class and the grades 2, 4, 6, & 8 students will be able to order for Thursdays
  • Then on Fridays all of the grades 1 to 9 students will be able to order a specialty soup

As this is a significant change from previous years, please ensure that your children have lunches on the other days and that your calendars are marked accordingly.

Also . . . for the month of October . . . there was a timing issue of when lunches were ordered vs. when the schedule for Play Parkland went out – if you ordered Fundraising Lunch for your grade 3, 4, 5, or 6 student for any of the Mondays in October, and they are scheduled to attend Play Parkland that day they will NOT receive their lunch in time before they leave on the bus. Please be sure to send a lunch for them that day as we are governed by Alberta Food Handling Guidelines and are not allowed to keep food for later delivery.

  • Monday, October 16 – Grade 3 & 4 to Play Parkland
  • Monday, October 23 – Grade 5 & 6 to Play Parkland
  • Monday, October 30 – Grade 3 & 4 to Play Parkland

Don’t Forget to Order Lunches!

Just a reminder that the deadline for ordering lunches for the month of October is very quickly approaching.

Go to the Lunch Program tab at the top of the MLS Blog and follow the instructions accordingly.  You will need to RE-CREATE your user name and password for the lunch program.  

Simply go to https://muirlakeschool.hotlunches.net and go from there.

Lunch Order Due Dates are as follows:

  • October Menus are due Sept 18
  • November Menus are due Oct 16
  • December Menus are due Nov 20
  • January Menus are due Dec 18
  • February Menus are due Jan 22
  • March Menus are due Feb 19
  • April Menus are due Mar 19
  • May Menus are due Apr 16
  • June Menus are due May 14

March Lunch Forms

hot lunchThe fundraising and hot lunch forms for the month of March are now available online.  Go to our Muir Lake School website at www.psd70.ab.ca/schools/muirlake OR click on the link to the left of this page to get your copies. Hard copies have also gone out to the classrooms for distribution. Orders are due in to the office by February 14th.
