MCHS will be hosting an evening event for “First-Time Parents” on Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00 pm at Memorial Composite High School. This evening is meant for parents seeing their first child through high school. This will provide an opportunity for parents to become familiar with the school and to meet the school administration and counsellors. Students are not to attend.
The “First Choice Open House” evening will be held at Memorial Composite High School on Thursday, March 6th starting at 7:00 pm. Open House will start with a welcoming address in the large gym. There will be an Advanced Placement English meeting from 6:30 to 7:00pm on the same evening for anybody interested in learning more about this program. We encourage all grade 9 students to attend Open House evening together with their parents in order to make their final course selections for high school.
Since its inception the MLCS Foundation has raised money via various fundraisers and matching government grants and with the continuing dedication of our volunteers and corporate donations we have been able to improve our school grounds to include a dynamic $125,000 playground area and a quarter of a million dollar rubberized running track, and soccer pitch.
The MLCSF is made up of various volunteers and executive officers. These positions include, but are not limited to Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, and Directors. The committee gets together once every couple of months or so, depending on the need at that time and we encourage any and all parents to get involved with the school Foundation. With this being said we invite you to the February 10th School Council meeting where elections for the Foundation will be held; and if you or someone that you know is interested in helping out with the Foundation or should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school at 780-963-3535.
There will be a Grade 9 Farewell parent and student meeting on Monday, January 27 at 7 p.m. in the Muir Lake School Library. Discussion items include dates, times, their Activity Day as well as Fundraising. If you have a child in grade 9 this year at Muir Lake School, please plan to attend this important planning meeting. Students are also strongly encouraged to attend.
School Council is a great opportunity to stay informed of what is going on behind the scenes at your child’s school and within the Division.
